Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Regan.
Hi Chelsea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ever since I can remember, I have loved helping others feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. I was working a corporate job in communications and marketing but always would get asked to do makeup or hair for photo shoots, weddings, etc. If you talked to me for any period of time you knew that was where my passion was. I began doing makeup and hair on the side while still working at my day job 40-60 hours a week. I did this for years before I truly believed in myself enough to go full-time on my own. With a lot of hard work, networking, and making sure I had quality client systems in place, I haven’t looked back since!
As I was building my professional beauty network I really valued my relationships with all my clients, photographers, and those that recommended me. I wanted everyone I can into contact with to feel special and valued no matter if there was going to be a financial exchange or not. I believe this was a huge reason my referrals and name grew so quickly. I am beyond thankful to be on 100’s of referral lists from industry professionals all across the Carolinas for photoshoots, weddings, television, branding, etc. It has truly been a dream come true to build something where I get to be part of so many special moments.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur is something you don’t know how difficult it is until you are doing it. Making your own schedule and doing things on your terms seems amazing until you are still up at 4 am making sure your website is perfect so your clients can have the best experience. When you are working for someone else you clock out and someone is regulating your time and efforts. When you own your own business everything rises and falls on your decisions.
You will work longer hours, sacrifice to build longevity, and ultimately work harder than you ever have. It is easy to lose the balance of work-life while still maintaining your mental health and personal relationships. I genuinely love what I do so that has been my biggest struggle to learn boundaries and learning how to say no. Being in the wedding and beauty industry people are booking me for some of the most special moments in their life and it is very challenging to say no because everyone needs a day off.
I had a moment this year where I hit a large goal I had made for myself and I realized that there will always be bigger goals but you won’t always get the time back. This really allowed me to take a step back and start to create that work/personal life balance while still giving my incredible clients an amazing experience with my company.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My business is on-site luxury makeup and hair company offering services for weddings, special events, commercial work, runway, consulting, etc. Serving the Carolinas and beyond. We specialize in making sure you feel and look your most beautiful self no matter your style or the occasion.
Our promise to you is to make your planning experience simple and stress-free with the dedication of making what YOU want the priority. Although I love all styles, my signature is a natural glam with glowing skin and all of your features enhanced. My goal is for you to still look like “you” but on your best day! From weddings and special events to lessons and styled shoots, I can’t wait to help you create your perfect look!
I am most proud of the amazing relationships I have experienced with both other vendors and my clients. One of the things that set me apart from other companies in the personal experience that all my clients get. From speaking with me through the booking process to glamming you up on whatever occasion you may be celebrating, I am with you every step of the way. For now, I have chosen to keep my immediate team very small to keep my quality and customer service the best it can be.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
An important lesson I have learned during the Covid-19 Crisis is to really value what matters. There will always be more opportunities to be more successful financially or business-wise but I feel that Covid-19 really made us come together as a community to help each other.
Success means something different to everyone and for me, it means that I am doing my best to encourage, support, and uplift those around me as I give my clients the best experience possible. Specifically, with the wedding industry, I feel that as a whole people really valued community over competition.
