Hello, Kings and Queens, my name is Candice Mckinnon, I am a mother, wife & CEO of Glam by Candy. My main job is being a mom, my kids gave me the motivation and strength to build this business. What was once a hobby after I laid the kids down for sleep became a dream…

Everything was closed of course during the shutdown and I’m the type that has to keep my nails done. So, I decided to try press-on nails, but not the store brought (normally flimsy kind), I did my research and started to do my nails, and as everything started to open back up, I received a lot of compliments on my nails, then I thought why not start selling them! I am now a nail tech for press-on nails, I provide nails for women and children, men as well.

I launched an online website: www.glambycandy.online, March of this year 2021. It has been a success and since March, I’ve expanded, adding Glam by Candy to Nail Glam & Accessories by Candy as an extension, it is now a beauty brand. I have mink eyelashes, magnetic eyeliner, eye shadow, bonnets, lip gloss, lipstick, human hair bundles, sunglasses, and of course, “Full Sets on the Go” luxury/designer press-on nails.

Today, all of my merchandise has made it in a storefront, downtown, Raleigh, NC.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, when I first launched, orders were coming in every week for two months, then it slowed down to a couple. Doing my research, I came across pop-up shops, I figured it was time to get my name into the world, not just on social media. So, I’ve started going to pop-up shops, which I love, the networking is great.

Starting e-commerce and a new brand in itself is a struggle, people don’t know you to really trust to buy from you so you have to get out, attend pop-ups and I even went as far as getting my merchandise in-store, thanks to God.

My brand is set apart from others because it is based on love, empowerment, happiness, joy, strength, it’s unique and different. I am proud that in just a few months of my brand coming out it is blessed and selling in-store. My brand offers, custom-made press-on nail sets (your personal nail tech), wholesale orders on press-on nails, online orders, in-store purchases, text-messaging service (getlockedin), or email.
