Exploring Life & Business with Adrienne Watson of W Tax & Business Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Watson.

Hi Adrienne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started as just a tax preparation business. In 2017, when my older sister became ill and my mother developed Dementia, I had to quit my full time job as Head Accountant-North America for a small international company to become a caregiver. During my time at the company I would help people from various countries start and set up their business in the United States. The services we provided were Accounting, International Taxation, and Business Consulting. I enjoyed helping people set them up so I added those services to my existing taxation services. Instead of helping individuals who had the capital and money to do so, I would help the entrepreneur who wanted to start their business with little to no capital and a willingness to learn how to setup their business financially and managerial.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. It has never been smooth…very bumpy, hilly, a lot of pot holes, and dead ends. As a new business owner you put on many hats. I have a BS in Accounting and A MBA in Business so I knew how to set up my business with the proper Accouting System and the key staff that will help me run my business efficiently. Now what I didn’t know how or what to do was Marketing. Marketing is one task that all new entrepreneurs hate to endure. But as I sat in classes at You Tube University and Google Academy, I finally learned how to market my business and brand.

W Tax & Business Consulting is a small service based business that provides Accouting, Income Tax Preparation & Consulting, and Business Consulting services to individuals, startups, and mid size businesses. My business is known for helping business owners understand how important it is to know their finances and how to properly file taxes. I help new business owners from start to finish. I help them come up with a plan aka blueprint and a sound financial system. I teach them the dos and don’t of running a business in a straight to the point but fun way. My clients always become family after meeting and working with me. Its all about making the client comfortable in an uncharted territory.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I am a people person. I have never met a stranger and always talk to people. My mom once told me my 3rd grade teacher once said, “Mrs. Watson if you all were bad people we will know because Adrienne would tell us” I played softball, track (shot put & discus) and volleyball all of my life. So I have ways been outgoing and a team player.. I love numbers and science and I knew that I wanted to make one of those loves into a career.
