Meet Brian Raynor of Raynor Shine Auto Works

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Raynor.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a garage my dad owned which was located behind the house I grew up in. I started working at Caterpillar when I was 18 right out of high school. I was making lots of bad decisions partying all the time but I always worked hard. I was there 11 years and got laid off off during the recession that happened starting in 2008 but I was laid off in 2010. I was now caught up in the full throws of addiction. I could not find a job anywhere; I was going to every available job fair I could find but wasn’t having any luck. I started washing/detailing cars because it was easy to get into and a very cheap startup cost. I also went back to college to get my degree in autobody repair and mechanics. I graduated and my business was growing so I actually took on some small insurance claim work in and mechanic work in my home garage which helped me to expand. Through some trials and situations, I started a faith-based recovery program and was able to get sober. Once this happened things really took off, I guess because I could actually function at 100 percent. I have since build a building on a property that I own and have several employees. Business is very steady and doing well.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I was battling an addiction. It was hard to find a bank that would give me a loan for a building, so I had to buy the land and pay it off using it as collateral for the actual building on it. We as people tend to be impatient at times and I’m no different It took a good amount of time to build up a customer base big enough to keep work coming in that could pay the bills and overhead needed. Finding affordable commercial property in this area is tough. I was a first-time business builder doing a commercial property so I had no idea of the process and what that entailed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Raynor Shine Auto Works, INC.?
I am basically a one-stop-shop for anything automotive. We do insurance claims for collision repairs. Sell, tire, and aftermarket parts and do the installation. Mechanics and detailing which includes paint correction which got me started. We also do full automotive restoration. We specialize in paint and bodywork as well as mechanics. I think what sets us apart is our attention to detail and doing what I consider high-end top-tier work. I am most proud of our dedication to get the job done right and paying attention to detail to give the best possible outcome.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
It takes a lot of time and things will not happen overnight. You have to be patient. The biggest thing is you will have to be willing to work hard and be organized or it will never work. Do all your work better than if you were doing it for yourself.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Brian for a few years and he’s the only person I allow to “work” on my vehicles. His work is EXCELLENT and precise. I highly recommend him for any and all automotive jobs.
