Meet Layla Quick of OMG Lemonade

Today we’d like to introduce you to Layla Quick.

Hi Layla, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my business OMG Lemonade at the age of 14 years old. It all started from an amazing trip that was on my mom’s bucket list to Dubai. At the 5-star Jumeriah, she was greeted with an herbal washcloth and a refreshing mint lime-aide that would change our lives forever.

During her stay, she drank it every day. So much so, when she came back from that amazing vacation she expressed her love for this exotic drink she was either gonna move there or she was going to figure out how to get that same experience.

Well, she attempted to recreate the experience and had a competition with my sister and me. The competition was who could make this exoticness reappear in the US. I won!! But wait it wasn’t that easy. Mommy had us going into international stores, grocery stores and researching mint only to find out there were over 600 varieties. But that didn’t stop us. The mint that we needed was right up under our nose in a flower pot on the back porch. It was mint to be!!

Fast Forward to 2020 during the pandemic events was scarce and some got canceled. There was 1 Farmers Market that was beginning its season, and we decided to participate. Hoping to sell 100 bottles throughout the 3-hour event, We managed to sell 100 bottles in 1 hour. OMG! With only 2 flavors. We returned the next week and doubled our sales. The business was picking up so fast my mom KIA Sorento, couldn’t hold but so many cold OMG Lemonade bottles. So we brought in 2,000 lb vending machines to the Black Farmers Market to ensure service to our OMG Fam.

One year later, I graduated early from high school in 2021. My first car was the OMG Mobile which housed our OMG Lemonade and Pop-Up Tents. And we 5X our events weekly, increased our kitchen crew as well as our sales team, managed over 300 events in counting, and I made my first 6-Figures in 2021 at 18 years old. Also, we established our first private kitchen home of the OMG manufacturing, located in Downtown Raleigh.

We ship incredibly fresh nationwide, have partnered with other companies like the Produce Box, and wholesale our OMG lemonade for distribution.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
On this road of pursuing my OMG dream, there were many challenges such as learning how to ship incredibly fresh and cold lemonade proficiently. Developing personal development to overcome naysayers and dream killers. Learning how to use brevity in my business meaning-making a point made quickly and clearly.

Implementing principles and universal laws like the law of Attraction, that help guide me on this journey.

We’ve been impressed with OMG Lemonade LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
While I was preparing and bottling hundreds of bottles of lemonade per event I was also being mentored, learning how to pitch, market, and develop systems in my business. These skills led me to pitch competitions on the clubhouse that won monetary gifts, a financial advisor, as well as the biggest opportunity yet winning the opportunity to exhibit OMG Lemonade at the Golf PGA merchandise show being amongst 29,000 people.

This win with the PGA is so sentimental because I am the granddaughter of Jessie E. Hill who was an African American catty during the 1950s during a time when Black men weren’t permitted to play golf. However, my grandaddy beat the odds and his story is still being told today throughout our family history. I too, love the game of golf and am one of the first African American entrepreneurs to ever-present at the PGA Merchandise show Jan 25th-28th 2022. OMG!

OMG Lemonade is an all-natural lemonade that’s nutritious and flavorlicious served from the farm to the family. Today, these options are limited in the beverage industry. The normalization of synthetic and chemical-laden products is highly consumed while the nutritious enriched fruit-filled beverages are lacking. There are 3 million farmers in America -hence, we should have better options. So, here at OMG Lemonade, we have decided to not only make an impact by providing a better quality beverage but also create more job opportunities for farmers.

Out of 3 million farmers, there is an astonishing shortage of black farmers as they make up less than 2% of farmers in the USA.
