Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Price.
Hi Vanessa, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Vanessa Price but I go by Vanessa Christina! Christina is my middle name. How I got started! After high school, I went for my Medical Assistant Degree, graduate, and worked in the field for a year. I then went to my parents and said I want to start my own business by the time I turn 25. My dad then took his 41k and help me start my In-Home Child Care Center “VP Learning Center”, I have been a child care provider now for over 8 years. During the pandemic (Mid-June) I decided to take every dime of the stimulus checks and go to Nail School to practice nails as well as starting a make-up line. In the midst of going to school and almost done I trusted God and got a building to open my own nail salon (“7/89 Nails” the month & year of my birthday), not even sure, I then graduated passed both state board test and now I’m a license nail tech. I have been in the business for a year now. Starting two businesses at one time was difficult but I did it. My make-up line (VC Beauty) came about because I love make-up, I knew that this was something I had to do, make every woman feel special. I wanted all my business names to represent me and who I am.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Having three businesses at one time will never be a smooth road and there will always be struggles along the way. I think for me, I already had the business mind because my number “ONE'” business is childcare and been in it for 8 years, so starting two more was not bad business-wise. It was also the support from my loved ones that got me through.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
So, I am 32 years old with 3 business. VP Learning Center (Daycare/ childcare provider) my main business over 8years now, 7/89 Nails (Nail Salon/ Nail Teach) a little over a year, and VC Beauty (Make-up Line) a little over a year. What sets me apart from others is one my personality, two, I’m willing to learn and gain more information on a daily basis. and three, doing things others are not willing to take the risk at doing. I know that with the businesses I’m in, there are others who have been doing it longer and I expect for them to be better at it then me. One thing that makes me different is that I never compare myself to others and do what fits me. With VC Beauty my brand offers, lip-gloss, Matte Lipstick, eyeshadow palettes, and now I’m in the process of creating and making press-0n nails to add to the website.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would like to add, age is only a number, young or old it’s never too late to follow your heart or your dreams. Although it may be others doing the same thing it’s okay start it anyway because it’s money for everybody. Always pray and ask God for a plan and show you what to do. God has been blessing me and I give him what is due. Have faith, trust God and everything else will follow.
