Meet Amanda Maxwell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Maxwell.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I remember as a child I always liked things in a particular manner. I thrived on music, creativity, organization, and designing for the aesthetic. My creativity has always been to find either a better solution, a more organized way, or just more aesthetically pleasing. My rule of thumb is “everything has its place, and every place has its thing.” This was so true that I have a very specific memory of sitting in my grandmother’s sewing room as a child, maybe 5 or 6, re-organizing her sewing pins and needles. I would always hold her needle tomato (if you know you know) that held all the different pins and needles she would use. I would sit there and remove every single pin and needle and re-organize them by size, shape, color, and type. Once completed there would be different sections for different groups of like pins and needles.

Why does this have anything to do with my story? Because even now, as an adult, this has correlated to being a slight perfectionist with a high attention to details.

Within my life, I have had many opportunities to explore the different ways that my organizations skills and attention to detail can have an effect on the way I approach projects. In utilizing these key attributes, it is no wonder this has help me obtain my latest and possibly greatest role yet, an Associate Wedding Planner under Lillian Suarez of Lillian Suarez Events. This is literally my dream come true. Having the opportunity to work with Lillian and our amazing team has been my life’s missing puzzle piece.

I have always found myself gravitating towards planning throughout my life. I can usually be found in the middle navigating and helping to smooth out all the fine details. Over the years I have had the pleasure of planning and executing themed parties, birthday parties, sweet sixteen parties, anniversary dinners, retirement dinners, corporate employee appreciation events, and even a few weddings. I love a good celebration and a firm believer that life should be celebrated. I challenge anyone to find a reason to celebrate in this life. And while you are celebrating, I will be in the background making sure every detail runs as smooth as possible.

I will not only be your planner but also your personal cheerleader. My heart becomes so happy to see the abundance of love and support you witness at each and every event. It is always reassuring to see the physical love and support in front of you celebrating a new life milestone. I love love, no matter the cliché, I just do. I am truly a hopeless romantic. It makes me incredibly happy to see others happy and knowing I had even the smallest part in making my client/clients happy, makes my job as a planner that much more fulfilling. Remember, no event, no celebration is too small to celebrate. If it’s important in your life, celebrate it! And then once you’ve decided to celebration give us a call to help plan it with you.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sometimes in life, you make a plan, and then sometimes life makes a mockery of that plan. And then there are times when you get the opportunity to say “Yes”, DO it, say “YES!”. Life and timing have everything to do with how you’re creating your future. Yes, sometimes life, family, and other priorities get in the way of your passions or dreams. However, that is when timing jumps in. “All things in good timing”, Timing tends to play a huge part in our lives. Sometimes it’s our experiences within those times that are what help the alignment for better things to fall into place all while timed perfectly. I suppose for me timing is EVERYTHING. I have wanted to be a planner for the better part of at least 10 years, however, the opportunity never really presented its self. Even though in all prior career positions I have held, each one either created a “celebration” team OR was the office planner. Either way, planning has a way of finding me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have the incredible honor of assisting couples imagine, create and plan their version of the wedding they have been envisioning. Helping the couple every step of the way. Assisting in making sure all the final details create the vision dancing in their heads. All of the details matter, the details tell the story of the couple. In a way, it’s like the couple’s version of their love and how they reflect it in the details. Weddings are actually an intimate affair. The idea of how this is possible lies within the aspect that each detail that has been personally selected by the couple. Having a connection or a sentimental part of their love story. A wedding is merely a physical representation of how the couple sees their relationship represented physically. In addition to the assisting, I can be found assisting with answering questions, reassuring the couple, and helping to provide additional feedback or insight. I’m most proud of the opportunity I have to help create and assists couples in making their special day go as smooth and perfect as possible. Even if that means I’m searching around for a drummer because they got lost on their way to the reception hall for “hora de locura”/”the hour of crazy”.

If I’m known for anything it would be my enthusiasm and passion to create a lasting impression for those I meet. For those who may know me well, can tell you that my organization skills and attention to detail are a key to my successes.

Any big plans?
My plan is to embrace this opportunity under Lillian while learning and absorbing as much knowledge as she is willing to provide. Beyond growing my personal knowledge, I hope to help Lillian continue to expand her brand and grow her business. I am most looking forward to the busy year ahead and creating success every step of the way. I’m open to my potential and the wonderful opportunities that lie ahead.
