Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystle Bradley.
Hi Krystle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was born and raised in Roanoke Rapids, NC and I’ve always, ALWAYS had a pretty vivid imagination. I loved creative writing assignments, making up stories, music, and the arts. I have always been a people person and made friends easily. Growing up, I didn’t talk as much but I was always thinking. In 5th grade, my teacher, Ms. Dottie Floyd made us do journal entries daily and she’d take the time to write us back and respond.
That was one of my favorite activities. I started thinking about books, characters, and how stories were created. I started my love for reading in the 4th grade (shout of to my 4th-grade teacher, Mr. Utley for introducing me to novels) and discovered a love for writing in the 5th. I wrote short stories, poems, etc., and really got into writing during my junior year of college at North Carolina A&T (Aggie Pride).
My professor, Dr. Tracie Fellers met with me and she said, “I think you may have discovered a gift!” I started to write a lot. I then went into the education field and there were read aloud that I read with my students and said to myself, hmm my stories are just as good. In 2016, I released my first children’s book, Brave Bradley. Since then, I have released two additional books, The Kids in Room 325: It’s Cool To Be S.M.A.R.T. (2019) and My Words Have Power (2021). I also started a non-profit organization, Brave University. The mission of Brave University is to combat the bullying epidemic, cultural insensitivities and to celebrate each other’s individuality. We will promote respect, inclusion, and equality. I have so many things in the works and 2022 is going to be EPIC!!!
Krystle Bradley is the founder of Brave University, a nonprofit organization that aims to end the bullying epidemic by teaching students about cultural sensitivity and how to celebrate one another’s individuality. She is an author, mentor, public speaker, and educator. Krystle is a graduate of North Carolina A&T and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She believes in seeing the good in everyone she meets; and in her spare time, enjoys singing, reading, church, writing, bowling, and spending time with family.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, things have been pretty smooth and I’ve been grateful for the support that I’ve received along the way. I have an amazing support system (you know who you are). Some of the struggles for me were the editing process and self-doubt and wanting things to be perfect.
Instead of taking time to “stop and smell the roses” and celebrate my accomplishments, I would focus on how I should have, could have, would have improved things.
It has taught me a lot and I’ve also been able to help people who shared the same goals, dreams, etc.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an educator. I’ve been in education for 16 years and I’m able to share my love for people and storytelling. Kids get really excited that they know an author. Kindness and people are my specialties. I want to see EVERYONE win!
If you share your goals, dreams, desires with me then I do my best to hold you accountable but also support your efforts. I honestly can’t pinpoint one thing that I’m most proud of. I’m proud to be an author, visionary, and executive director and the work that I do daily.
The thing that sets me apart from others is my heart.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can have me visit their schools, churches, youth groups, etc. They can support events sponsored by Brave University and author Krystle Bradley. People can donate to Brave University and they can always, ALWAYS purchase books and merchandise for the little readers. People can pray for us, send positive vibes, well wishes, etc.
