Hi Todd, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
While enjoying legal cannabis, realizing it helped with personal health and was natural. It spawned an almost flippant conversation about the workforce, and purchasing cannabis evolved into a flood of ideas of potential branding, products, and store design for our own business.

We realized this product could help others, but we wanted to create a safe, welcoming environment where people could learn. This idea wasn’t something we would sit on and let die in a bin. We were going to make this happen. Thus Hempie’s was born. A product of a desire for self-employment and better legal cannabis.

With the power of three partners who all bring something to the table. Todd brings a strong business sense to the table and makes essential business connections. Austin is our product and sales specialist and is responsible for educating everyone (staff and customers) on the products we carry and their benefits.

Matthew is our marketing genius, and he works tirelessly on our website, socials, and advertising. Together, we have proven in just our first month of business that we are a force and set ourselves apart from the competition.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting any business comes with unexpected bumps in the road, especially in this industry, but it hasn’t been too difficult of a process. The biggest hindrance has been our quest for stable banking. Our first bank account was closed suddenly by the bank. We then searched for another and were rejected by a handful, but finally went with a bank that we found was common among the hemp community.

We opened the account in-branch with no issues and had complete transparency, and after less than a month of having the account, we received a letter saying they were closing our account. Our account representative did some investigating and tried to fight it, resulting in the bank stating they were closing any accounts similar to ours in the state.

As luck would have it, though, this happened while the Southern Hemp Expo was taking place in downtown Raleigh, and we ran into a bank that had a booth, and their motto is “Hemp Banks Here!” We are completely complying with all of their cannabis program policies.

We honestly care about the well-being of everyone that visits us, and we are grateful for the friends we have made along the way.

Hempie’s mission is to be the staple of how a hemp company should operate. We are set to open more stores and hope to expand even further to be a nationally recognized brand in the next five years.

Integrity and transparency are our best policy in everything we do, especially in the industry; it shapes our character and define who we are as a company.

Passion is our next one, and passion will lead you to fulfillment. Awareness, attention to detail, and patience are true rewards of dedication, and they are not questionable accomplishments. We want to be something, not just have something, and we want to go beyond what we were.

Don’t give in to the desperation for the external stifle internal development. Most importantly, don’t give yourself to your dream with the condition that it must give you something in return. If it’s conditional, it’s not true passion. It doesn’t have to be conditional, keep consistent, and the rest will follow.
