Meet Jalisa Britt of JB’s Beauty Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalisa Britt.

Hi Jalisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
How I started out: At first, I was thinking, I wanted to sell something and I wanted it to be something women needed. I thought of Mink Lashes. Once I started the idea, I also thought maybe I should learn how to do individual lashes as well. So, I did just that. So, selling lashes and doing lashes was my thing!

I started off in the dining room in my apartment. A lot of clients were asking me to do other beauty services. I loved enhancing my client’s beauty so I decided to go to school and become a licensed esthetician. So, I did just that. I love to empower women so making a difference in their life by helping them feel better about their looks is a very good feeling.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth; it has its rewards. When you have a plan you never plan for bumps and failures. So, you have to be mentally prepared to fulfill your dream. Being that I keep that mindset I know I will be successful. The main struggle is staying focused and not giving up. Some weeks you can be booked some weeks it can be the opposite so you have to stay motivated.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
JB’s beauty bar is a name I created for the future. Our goal is to one day be able to enhance women in a sense of a one-stop-shop. My business first started off with lashes and that’s what I’m known for. We have now added other enhancements such ass, gentlemen facials brow waxing, and fill. We want to empower women and with that, it starts off by helping them feel better.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I have taken many risks. Especially, when investing in myself and my business. You take a risk every time you try a new product but that’s what you do to try to get the best for your business. That with God all things are possible.
