Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Carpenter.
Jada, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I first got into modeling, I was young and people had always told me I should model. When I was around 11 or 12, my parents tried to get me into modeling, but with very little knowledge about the industry, they didn’t get me very far.
After that, I kinda put modeling to the side and put my focus more on school and track and field. Around 17 years old, I was a senior in high school and I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, but I did know that I wanted to start my modeling career back up. I started applying to many different agencies but I never heard back from any of them.
So, I ended up applying to many different colleges but decided to start my education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as a biology major. With this brand new start, I saw this as an opportunity to get my modeling career up and going. My freshman year of college was more like a setup year for me, at this time I was taking my own photos trying to get noticed or scouted.
I had applied to model agencies again, but like before I didn’t hear anything back. Since then, I’ve been looking for other opportunities in my area. I am now a sophomore and I am able to collaborate with photographers to help further my career and portfolio.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has not been a smooth road, when I decided back in high school I wanted to model, I didn’t know how I was going to do it or where to even start. I come from a poor family and a city with little to no opportunities.
The only place I knew where to start was with a modeling agency, but every time I applied I got rejected. Then when I learned that I can collaborate with photographers in my area, I started reaching out, but many of the photographers I reached out to either didn’t respond or didn’t want to shoot with me.
Then, if I do manage to get a collaboration, I run into the problem of how am I gonna pay for things and how I’m going to get there.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a model, a painter, and a biology major. I specialize in creativity. I’ve always done something that involves art or music, I played the saxophone for 6+ years. I am most known for my talents and being able to create some from nothing.
I am most proud of myself and how far I’ve come, not only in my career but as a person. I used to be very shy and I had low self-esteem. What sets me apart from others is my drive and determination, I refuse to give up or let anything that I’ve been through dictate who I am and who I wanna be.
I will always strive to be better in everything I do and I will not stop until I get my desired result.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can help and support me by getting my name/story out, I feel like throughout my journey I’ve been trying to do it on my own, but there’s just something I can’t do by myself. The only thing I ask for is support and love from my community.

I am so proud of this young lady. Through trials and tribulations, I am impressed that she will persevere. Beautiful young lady and photo great. I hope she gets her chance. She has accomplished much and is a biology major on the dean list.
