Community Highlights: Meet Sarah Edwards of VISUAL DESIGN PRO

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Edwards.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved playing around with video cameras and computers. When I was around 16, I began dabbling with photography and started out taking photos on my phone at that time. I began to become fascinated with so many different types of content creators on Youtube all over the world.

I became so inspired by the way someone can bring a vision to life through the lens. By 18 years old, I had taught myself the basics of photography and video production. I really started getting into creating short videos just for fun. Anything from travel, fashion, lifestyle, and the list goes on.

Some people started coming to me to do some video projects and took off from there. At 19 years old, I wanted to make my love for video into a business. I took business and entrepreneurial courses and continued to learn as much as I could on Youtube. Then I just dove into starting the business.

Five years later, today, I specialize in corporate and lifestyle video production services, and I also worked hard to achieve my FAA Certified drone pilot license. Like anyone starting off, it was not easy. But I had so much drive and passion to build my business. The best advice I can give someone who wants to start their own business is to really reflect on what your passion is, research the industry, and dive in!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I have been fortunate to find an industry that I love but the struggle was determining my path within the industry.

A primary frustration is that technology is changing by the minute! Plus, the challenge of mastering it and dealing with the tech issues.
The hours I’ve spent learning to confirm the direction of my business and perfect my skills have kept me on the right path. I feel like I needed to go down this road of exploration and making mistakes to give my clients the best service and tools they deserve.

Once I found a specific way of doing things, I found things to be smoother over time. You have to be consistent with whatever you decide to do and stick to it. It will all pay off I promise you.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in corporate and lifestyle video production, as well as an FAA-certified drone pilot.

I create videos to promote companies in North Carolina, Northern Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland areas. I work with a variety of businesses from assisted living, real estate, colleges, medical, tech; to fashion, automotive, nonprofits, political, contractors, and more.

I make the process easy for our clients. Whether it’s a deadline to meet, or needing some visionary direction, I work with clients at every step to develop clear goals and get the job done.
