Rising Stars: Meet Hezekiah Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hezekiah Williams, III.

Hi Hezekiah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a Political Science Student at FSU and shortly after returning home, I found myself working both in an office and part-time with JCrew. Both bore me and I couldn’t see myself doing a career in an office. I started looking up drones just to film the fishing trips that I take out on the boat and purchased one, finding out later that o would need a license.

I studied and got my first part 107 in 2017 and found myself filming for FSU’s campus promotion later that year. From there, I purchased my first camera and began doing small events until I worked my way up to graduations, and weddings, mentoring with several career professionals that I either knew or met & putting myself through hours of film lectures in my spare time. I also started working for a company that films & streams high school sports tournaments which helped me to gain a great deal of field experience.

I brought on a second shooter, photographer, & aiding engineer in 2019, all three brothers of mine that I’ve known for years. Aaron Williams, Anh Nyguen, & Tarik Perinuea. Last summer, I began looking for a permanent studio space after being home in DC for years & fate brought me back to my second home.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been a rough road for sure, but not one that I would change for anything. I love what I do & how the experiences have made me who I am. I struggled at first with the approval of my loved ones, the instability of starting off, building a clientele, breaking out of the shyness a lot of is cameramen have. I actually slept in my car at certain points & finished projects on my laptop but I’m here.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

I am most proud of the reaction from a client that beyond pleased with what we’ve delivered. The time, patience, & the invitation to the family that we offer all our clients.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
My friends & colleagues know me pretty thoroughly, but one thing that’s pretty unknown is that I love to invite folks over for tea & I have a ton of tea kettles.
