Tyreign The Legacy (Tyrone Gooding Jr.) is a Hip-hop and R&B artist from Charlotte, NC. Through music, Tyreign aims to inform, educate, and entertain his listeners with thought-provoking lyricism and captivating melodies. His goal is to help inspire others to love one another, in spite of their differences in background, culture, and opinion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road for Tyreign has not been easy. Raised by both his mother & father, Tyrone Gooding Jr. was thrust into the performance industry. His father, Tyrone Gooding Sr., who was a very well-known actor and playwright made sure his son was actively involved in everything related to art and music.
From choir and theater classes in school to The African American Children’s Theater in Charlotte to singing and playing drums at his grandmother’s church, Tyreign’s father thoroughly trained and exposed him to every form of arts he could, until tragedy struck.
At the age of 13, Tyreign’s greatest mentor, his father, was shot and killed.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Tyreign developed his performance and vocal skills as an active member of both the NCCU Music & Theater Departments.
Tyreign was known throughout the state for starring in various theatrical productions, singing in jazz and concert choir, & for his wild off-campus college parties. The college experience allowed Tyreign to develop and master his charisma, stage presence, and vocal ability. Tyreign’s current music is available on all streaming platforms, and Tyreign has several releases planned for this coming year.
Tyreign is also a self-taught engineer & producer, He is also known for his unique marketing strategy, filling every venue & event with his name on it. Tyreign The Legacy is also the founder of Reign Or Shine Elite Music Group (ROSE MG), Blaze Tha Stage, YAMZ Media Group, Yahself Fashion Co, & is a valuable partner and executive with Hustler’s Kingdom, & Afficial Records.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, Tyreign was very much involved in two worlds… Music and Football. Tyreign played football with his dad as his head coach all the way until he was 13. His last season was the year his father was killed.
Tyreign had a very active childhood and has a very large family. He spent most summers in Maxton, NC with his grandmother and cousins. The rest of the year he spent traveling with his father’s plays, singing and playing drums at church, and playing football.
Tyreign The Legacy graduated from Vance High School, first attending St. Augustines College, then transferring to North Carolina Central University.
