Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Prince.
Hi Angel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started for me in middle school, I would style my hair. I decided in high school, I was going to make this my career, during this time, I was styling girls at school & some adults. Fast forward just a tad bit I move to Greensboro, NC from Windsor, NC to start cosmetology school in the year 2014. In the year 2015, I get my Natural Hair Care License, I move from Greensboro, NC to Raleigh, NC. From 2015 to 2018 I was on and off again “travel stylist”.
So let’s say, I would officially call myself a “part-time” stylist in 2019, with very few clients. Fast forward just a tad bit more in 2020, I officially become a full-time stylist. I now have a steady clientele with clients who are amazing and I am absolutely thankful for them. Although my journey may seem easy and maybe straight to the point it wasn’t. I had to work several jobs, which I very strongly disliked. Took serval breaks during the process. I’ve also worked out of my mother’s home, cousins, friends, and other family members.
I even became a traveling stylist just to keep my dream alive because I refused to give up. A few years ago, I’d never have imagined my life the way it is now. I thought my time would never come, sometimes you really have to trust the process and God even more. I look forward to where life will take me next. For now, I’m just thankful I never gave up!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all! Location and clientele definitely played a major role. I’ve been a travel stylist, also worked out out homes of relatives & friends.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a natural hair care specialist, I specialize in extension services and protective styling.
You can call me the ponytail and twist slayer. My most popular styles are my ponytails mostly all year round. During spring and summer twists. Passion twist, Rope twist, Marley twist, and more. I think that only offering a twist makes me stand out a bit more, and saves my hands from aces and pains.
I was determined to find something that I could specialize in that wouldn’t destroy my body and take extensive time. Thankfully, I did just that, and that makes me super proud!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love how advanced the city of Raleigh is. I moved here from a small town so networking, gaining clientele is extremely different. I think my least favorite thing about the city is that scammers are even more advanced in the area.
Something that’s pretty uncommon in small-town areas. Overall I love the change!
