Today we’d like to introduce you to Page Stroud.
Hi Page, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The saying goes: Find something you love and you will never feel like it’s work. During my career working within higher education, I was consistently asked to be on various hospitality committees. From planning Open House events to working on the commencement committee, I was allowed to put my stamp on signature events at my alma mater of Bennett College. It was when I was contracted to work on the Coronation of the College Queen, also during my time at Bennett College, that event planning as a passion was ignited. In 2012, the prestigious Celebrity Wedding & Event Planner, Diann Valentine, hosted a contest with the grand prize being a meet-and-greet with her at a wedding industry conference. The day she emailed to notify me I’d won changed my life. I spent the next couple of days amongst prominent men and women within the wedding and event planning industry. Being able to commune and dine with people I have admired, to learn from their successes and challenges while managing their unique businesses, created working relationships which blessed me with invaluable resources to help me get to the next level. After completing my certification for weddings and event planning in 2013, I needed a name. Always knowing I never wanted to be known just for weddings, I needed to create a name that encompassed every occasion. After many sleepless nights, Sociably Yours was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey has been full of challenges. Building a brand while working full time, being a wife and mother, isn’t for the faint at heart. Learning to make setbacks a positive experience and trying not to get too carried away by the victories won along the way have both been a part of my growth as not only an event planner, but a business woman as well. Within the event planning industry challenges abound in finding clients and then being able to meet each of their individual expectations. Creating balance with work and life is something I’m trying to focus more on. Dealing with COVID and being able to help couples safely wed during the midst of a pandemic has been the biggest challenge to date and it’s still ongoing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a Certified Wedding and Event Planner, I curate celebrations for every occasion. Sociably Yours is certified in intimately curated celebrations for the most important moments of a lifetime.
We are so grateful to our beautiful couples for entrusting us with their special day during the pandemic. Sociably Yours is an entertaining brand created to allow you to celebrate every day. What sets us apart? Our passion is unveiling the simplicity and intimacy of the event to entertain your guests with food, conversation, and attire.
I am most proud of being able to be a part of beautiful memories. Being featured on the local news to share suggestions for celebrating every holiday allows me to bring joy to people I have never worked with personally.
What do you think about happiness?
My family makes me happy. Family is everything to me so being surrounded by their love makes my heart smile. Celebrating everyday makes me happy. Life is so precious so being able to plan events every single day brings me joy. Celebrating, bringing joy to everyone who’s life I touch, is who I am to my core. I am Sociably Yours.
