Hidden Gems: Meet Patricia Parada of Prinus Production

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Parada.

Hi Patricia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am Venezuelan, I arrived in the United States in October 2014 and I migrated due to the political situation in my country hand in hand with my husband and my daughter. In Venezuela, we left everything: Family, profession, business, work, assets, including dreams and the life plan that we had designed. But when you arrive in a new country, wanting to start over and be what you were and have all that you had in your country, nothing stops you, not even the language.

I started to face my ego and my fears, and to do what I knew and what I didn’t know too. But despite the difficulties and new challenges, I always kept in mind and understood that I had to give back to this great nation the opportunity it gave me by allowing my family to make a new life here; and I get the opportunity to found with other Venezuelans a non-profit association “Venezuela Para Ti” and in which I am the Director of Social Service, and the purpose is to guide the migrants who arrive in North Carolina on how to make a life in the state; but like any foundation, the resources were scarce, and I came up with the idea of producing an event to collect funds.

I start to set up the project to present it to the board of directors, and I manage to contact the one who for me is the best Venezuelan comedian “Emilio Lovera” and he gives me the contact of his manager; I present the project with the complete feasibility study and the complete budget to the board of directors, but they do not give me the approval to reach a goal; however, I raise the possibility of staying with the project personally and they tell me that of course, that was mine and that I was the one who had designed it. At that moment I decide to undertake the project on a personal level and with the financial support of some good friends, and the event was a success.

After that I continue with my project hand in hand with my husband and today it is called “Prinus Productions” and like all ventures at the beginning, some of us have done well, others not so much. However, COVID arrives and our branch of work is completely paralyzed; but we kept going and without despair, we waited for everything to pass. Today we know and understand that we cannot only produce entertainment events but also offer our services as organizers of any type of recreational activity or celebration.

It has not been easy, we still have a lot to do and a lot to build, but my husband and I are sure that everything we do with love, commitment, conviction, and above all showing that dreams come true no matter the difficulties… Entrepreneurship today is the commitment of a Venezuelan family that wants to give the best to this great country that allowed us to start over.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy, first the investment to produce a show is big, the financing has always been our savings and in some events, it hasn’t gone as we expected.

When the Covid arrived it was terrible, we suspended events and contracts that we could not carry out, which also brought us losses. But we always answered where we should and I think that’s what has made people believe in us as a company.

We had to do other jobs to cover our losses and comply.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Prinus Production LLC?
We produce artistic events (concerts, stand-up comedy, front plays) and organize or plan celebrations.

Until now, I have produced shows by Venezuelan artists and when I started in the city there was no one who produced this type of event for our Venezuelan community. However, I would like to produce artists of other nationalities and it is part of our goal.

We want to hold events that leave a nice memory for those who attend and who can enjoy their traditions or roots despite being so far from their land.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Definitely, each event is a risk not only monetary but also risk of meeting the expectations of those who buy a ticket to have a good time and enjoy.

I think that even though we have not always won money at our events, we know that people have been pleased to have paid that ticket, including the artists and all the staff that have worked with us, have been pleased to work by our side.
