Hidden Gems: Meet Diane Littlejohn of Littlejohn Law Offices

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Littlejohn.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska. I am an intellectual property attorney practicing primarily in trademarks, contracts, and copyright law.

I started law school in 2007 after taking four years off from undergrad. I transitioned from a practice primarily focused on family law into trademarks and intellectual property law in 2020 during the pandemic. I have been in practice since graduating from law school in 2010.

I thrive on helping minority small business owners build the businesses of their dreams. I have two miniature poodles and enjoy traveling, going to movies, and relaxing at home.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth.

When I graduated from law school in 2010, the country was still in the middle of the Great Recession and jobs were not abundant. I worked a few temp jobs for a while, and started to venture out on my own, and have never looked back.

As with any business, building a law firm is not easy and it took several years to build up into a profitable business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My firm helps small business owners build their brands and scale their businesses safely. My focus is primarily on minority-owned and women-owned businesses. I am most proud of helping business owners protect their brands and build the businesses of their dreams.

What sets me apart from others is that as a black female trademark attorney, I am one of only 2 percent of black female attorneys that practice in this area. Minority and underrepresented business owners need an option to work with someone they can relate to and who looks like them.

What sets me apart from other attorneys is the level of service I offer. I offer a red carpet experience to clients who have been highly satisfied with my services.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Spending time with my family and my pets makes me happy.
