Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Peacock.
Hi Maya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Being a first-generation college student in my family and raised in a single-parent household, it was not a smooth road at all. Upon graduating from the Queen’s University of Charlotte, I went to work and birthed a sweet little girl. While providing as a single mother I worked beside in the ICU in Charlotte’s #1 trauma center Atrium Health.
I maintained my career as a bedside RN working in all ICUs for adults as well as the Emergency Room. Once the COVID-19 wave hit, I saw horrifying things and began to take more of a holistic approach to health and that is how I stumbled upon IV hydration. From transitioning from being a bedside RN to a nurse entrepreneur the road was not smooth at all.
Nursing came firsthand to me and was something I could do no matter what setting I was in but business was a completely different story. I studied I took classes to learn business practices and IV hydration. I knew I wanted to impact the community around me in a holistic way.
I wanted to create a space where individuals could experience Luxury and meet all of their wellness goals.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been smooth learning all of the laws of NC as being a small business owner to the laws in place to practice safely and within the guidelines of the governing bodies was a challenge.
Not only gaining clientele, educating people in our community as to why IV Hydration is beneficial.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I began working at Atrium Health in Charlotte where I worked in the NSICU as well as the ER. After experiencing some life hardships I transitioned back home to Raleigh, NC where I began working as an ICU Float RN at the University of North Carolina.
I practiced in all ICUs from Medical Intensive Care units, Trauma Intensive Care Units as well as ER. Working in all of these acute areas allowed me to gain skills to manage acute emergent situations but emotionally it was hard with all of the things I began to see with COVID. Not only was I working in units that required a high skill level I enrolled in a Nurse Practitioner Program.
I am approaching the completion of being a board-certified Nurse Practitioner for Family Practices as well as Acute Practices to allow me to continue to work in Acute hospital settings.
My ultimate goal is to open a Medical Spa that will provide individuals with a space where they can become a better version of themselves and combat any lifelong chronic issues they may have been dealing with.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most is helping people in our community in a holistic way.
I’ve learned from working in the ICU that we can sometimes help alleviate chronic symptoms with holistic and natural approaches to health. Every symptom and disease does not always need a labeled medication.
