Rising Stars: Meet Dennis Hering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis Hering.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had the desire to have influence and to make an impact. I have followed a lot of powerful communicators on social media and have always wanted to speak life to people.

In 2018, I got connected to my new colleague Sharlene Provilus who is the CEO of a booking agency called Write.Speak.Inspire LLC. In March of 2019, we officially launched into partnership together as I became a Student Leadership Development Storyteller for her organization.

Ever since then, we have been able to speak at events together, pour into colleges, and get to make an impact on the next generation of high school and college students.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Public Speaking means you get paid to speak. If people do not choose you, you do not get paid.

With the pandemic taking the world by storm in 2020, that put a massive pause on events which in turn put a pause on speaking opportunities. While in-person is always the most fun and interactive, we had to learn how to go virtual.

Soon after some adjustments, we were able to begin hosting more online seminars and events and had learned another great lesson in the aspect of adapting to the market and to life.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Student Leadership Development Storyteller.

My main focus is on helping students understand their purpose in life, and helping them overcome the mental hurdles they face as they get older to help them become productive and impactful members of their community.

I also speak on leadership development in relation to the corporate world in terms of how to create a healthy culture amongst employees, and how to grow your organization by not just hiring employees, but developing leaders to lead the charge with you.
