Today we’d like to introduce you to Ceara Corry.
Hi Ceara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
When I look back, I can see that I’ve always been interested in sexual and reproductive health, I just didn’t have that language at the time.
I used to read everything I could find about pregnancy, people living with HIV, or reproductive health in other countries. I even did my senior project in high school on teen pregnancy and wrote many papers about women’s reproductive health in undergrad.
What I did always know was that I wanted to enter a helping profession; at first, I wanted to be a doctor, then I changed to a psychiatrist. Ultimately, I didn’t want to go to medical school so I decided to become a therapist instead.
At UNC Charlotte, I discovered the field of social work and completely fell in love with it, especially once I realized I could be a therapist with a social work background. Once I got to graduate school in Fall 2016, I started having some doubts about if becoming a therapist was the best career path for me and started to consider nonprofit leadership instead. That doubt actually may have worked in my favor as my first job out of grad school was with a local non-profit, teaching sex education to high school students, and is where my love for sexual wellness was reignited.
The goal of being a therapist kept returning to me and I learned about sex therapy. It was the perfect blend of sexual wellness and clinical work. Shortly into the COVID-19 pandemic, I changed careers and began with a group sex therapy practice. I felt so fortunate to be able to do clinical work that I was passionate about and there was room for me to grow as a sexuality educator as well.
Ultimately, I’ve known for quite some time that entrepreneurship is a goal of mine. Creating the Naked Truth was my way of honoring so many sides of myself at the same time: the educator, the therapist, the sexual wellness enthusiast, and the entrepreneur.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always felt smooth at the moment, but I can absolutely see how all of my experiences and opportunities have built on each other and shaped me.
I’ve dealt with a lot of doubt and questioning about my capabilities. Social work, therapy, and sexual wellness are all fields that are composed primarily of white women. Add that to being a first-generation college and graduate student, from a working-class family, and there can be the question of “Do I belong here?” “Is this for people like me?”
Overcoming those doubts has taken some intentional effort and I’m often motivated by my desire to be one more welcoming face to others who want to enter these fields and look like me or have had similar experiences.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Naked Truth, LLC?
The Naked Truth, LLC is a sexual wellness center with a vision of a world in which all people have access to the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to improve and maintain their sexual wellness in a manner that is sex-positive, pleasure centered, and free of shame or stigma.
As the founder and lead educator, I provide sexual wellness content and education that is Fun, Informative, Relevant, and Empowering (AKA, F.I.R.E.!). I like to say I’m here to give you the sex-ed you wish you had. My passions include supporting individuals and couples in discovering and leaning into their unique sexual values and identity and sexual trauma recovery.
I’m especially devoted to Black women and couples as I believe this work for my community is a part of my life’s purpose. I work with organizations of all types such as social clubs, faith-based groups, nonprofits, corporations, blogs, podcasts, and others.
I’m most proud of the ways I’ve been able to discuss sexual wellness in light of intersecting identities and issues. For example, I recently held a series of conversations on Instagram Live about sex positivity and faith. I’m doing another one in May about how sexual health intersects with mental health.
I love expanding the conversation about sexual wellness to include more than STI minimization or pregnancy prevention. My signature workshops are:
Pleasure Partners – an introduction to adult pleasure products such as toys, lubes, etc.
Five – a workshop on the role of sensuality in pleasure.
Sex Ed You Wish You Had – a workshop covering various sexual wellness topics including anatomy, desire and arousal, sexual identity, and more.
I also offer youth sex education, completely customizable workshops or presentations, and I love doing interviews for print or digital publications, podcasts, vlogs, etc.
I’m working toward being able to offer individual, couple’s, and group therapy in the future as well.
I’ll be presenting the Sex Ed You Wish You’d Had at Syngery Fitness for Her on June 18th. The event is open to all adults. To learn more and to register you may visit: https://www.ceethesexlady.com/events-one/event-two-trc7w.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
So many things make me happy but I can sum it up with freedom and flexibility.
I love when I’m able to spend my time and resources however I want. Whether that’s quality time with my partner, family, or friends, eating out alone at a nice restaurant, or buying gifts.
