Today we’d like to introduce you to Rasheda Bey-Adams.
Hi Rasheda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Rasheda Bey. I’m currently working within the public sector division. After a decade, I decided to change gears and join the entrepreneurial world. I established Glam Bawse in January 2022. I wanted to offer something different than other businesses on the market. My concept stems from a lifetime of what I admire and enjoy. I grew up in Detroit, Michigan, the city of hair and fashion. When I was younger, I dreamed of being a supermodel, which came with challenges. Several years later, I had children between a couple of breakups, including surviving domestic violence. I took time for myself to heal mentally and emotionally. I went back to school and obtained my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. I established a nonprofit to mentor young girls and young women. We, as women, can sometimes underestimate our confidence and strength. Throughout my years of growth and working in a leadership role, I have valued integrity and trustworthiness to myself and others.
Creating Glam Bawse wasn’t difficult because, as the saying goes, when you look good, you feel good. All women need to wear their crown, and with the support of others, that’s the key to success and empowerment. I have resided in Raleigh for over 12 years, and I hope to thrive and share my passion with others. Glam Bawse launched on May 1, 2022, online. I offer nut-free whipped body butter and mink eyelashes. I’m also a vendor, which can allow someone to sell eyelashes or add to their business. Glam Bawse also offers an ebook on how to start a business. The highlight of Glam Bawse is that I designed a couple of handbags that will be released in June 2022.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s always that fear factor of the unknown, but I had to remind myself that change is always uncomfortable. I was used to the same routine and the same habits. I had sleepless nights and a few tears, but each day is a learning curve, and everything gets better with time. Stepping out on faith
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work full time in law enforcement. I’m proud of my career; not many can do what we do, but what I care most about is making a positive impact in the community. I have always been a very ambitious person. I’m blessed to maximize my potential and continue working towards a bigger future. I am proud of my versatility, and perseverance regardless of the obstacles I have faced.
What characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to if you had to?
I’m very disciplined, driven, honest, creative, and passionate. I thanked both my parents for instilling some of those values. I show gratitude daily.
