Community Highlights: Meet Alicia Renee’ Roberts of The Confident Lily

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Renee’ Roberts.

Hi, Alicia Renee’. We’d love to learn more about how you got to today? Can you start by introducing yourself?
I am a certified confidence and empowerment coach for women; however, I have not always felt so confident or empowered. About six years ago, I worked as finance lead for an outpatient mental health facility. I saw every-day people come in trying to get the help they needed to cope with life and overcome challenges. These people had jobs and families just like most of us. At that moment, I realized how common it is to struggle with our mental health, and I wanted to do something to empower people.

I dealt with my own difficulties when I worked at that facility around the same time. Although I felt stressed and broken, many women would come to me to vent and ask for advice on their issues. They looked up to me as someone that they could trust that would give sound advice. They had no idea of what I was experiencing behind closed doors. I was in a toxic marriage filled with emotional abuse. I knew there was a calling in my life to help women overcome difficulties in life and push forward with confidence. Still, I couldn’t explore that calling and passion at the time because my self-esteem and motivation had diminished.

How did I overcome it? I mustered up the courage to leave the toxic environment for good. Once I got to a place of calmness and still, I began to explore my purpose and passion in life intently. After time in prayer, journaling, and personal reflection, the idea came to me to write a devotional. That devotional, She Exudes, became an Amazon best-seller. I started The Confident Lily, a personal development company, in 2020 to encourage the emergence of confidence, faith, and prosperity in women’s lives. I then obtained my life coaching certificate and have been helping women with goal setting, building confidence, finding their purpose, and renewing their mindset ever since!

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success was not easy and wasn’t always smooth. When I separated from my ex-husband, I was sad, confused, hurt, upset, and lonely. I decided to move out of state for a new beginning and to explore a dream that I had. The following month after moving, my divorce became final. I was broken, grieving, and in a new environment with just myself and my child. COVID reared its ugly head the following month and added to my confusion and stress. Several times during the initial business startup, I was plagued with Imposter’s Syndrome. Distractions and setbacks came, but I persevered and determined not to give up! I doubted myself and constantly reminded myself that I was worthy, capable, and ready to walk in my purpose and achieve my dreams!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Confident Lily?
The Confident Lily is a personal development company that equips women to find their power. The mission is to encourage and inspire women to boldly pursue a life of prosperity and become the best versions of themselves that they can be. We do this through inspirational materials such as; the She Exudes Devotional, She Exudes Journals, Oh So Confident Coloring Book, blogs, speaking, and personal coaching.

As a Confidence Coach, my mission is to help women become unstuck by using a mixture of faith and practicality to help them stop putting their dreams on the back burner and begin to live a life of prosperity. My coaching sessions are not just time for clients to vent and for me to teach. I believe in equipping my clients with the tools they need to be successful and that they can utilize in the future even when they are no longer working with me.

Unlike other coaching businesses, I take the time to customize each session based on the client’s needs. Education is important, but I take it a step further and provide opportunities for role play, learning activities, and homework which increases accountability. I am building a community of confident, bold, and empowered women, and my clients have the opportunity to engage with other like-minded women as well.

I am most proud of the impact that I am making in my clients’ lives. I love when clients have those “light-bulb” moments and begin to apply the things learned in our sessions to their personal lives. Just as the lily flower signifies rebirth, new beginnings, and prosperity, that is exactly what I work to help my clients achieve.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking?
I am a risk-taker. I was a risk-taker when I decided to remove myself from toxic environments and follow my dreams. I was afraid of being a single mother, but I decided that our well-being was more important than staying in a “comfortable” and familiar place. I have taken financial risks with starting a business but have been rewarded in so many ways for taking that risk. When I took the risk of stepping out on faith to pursue my passion, I was afraid; however, it has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
