Community Highlights: Meet Daniel Coratti of DCOR Design + Build

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Coratti. Them and their team share their story with us below:

DCOR Design + Build is a product of years of construction, ironworking, large-scale commercial projects, and real estate investing.

The very foundation of our company began with founder Daniel Coratti working on the tools as an Ironworker while completing his post-secondary education.

The tools paved the way for one of Canada’s largest construction firms where Daniel served as a Project Manager supporting large projects within major oil and energy companies, and government agencies. Exceptional relationship management led to managing the largest oil and gas facility in the Greater Toronto Area, rendering DCOR Design + Build’s very own the youngest ever to achieve such a role within the company.

The experience of leading such significant commercial projects provided Daniel the opportunity for real estate investing, which truly developed and honed a passion for custom and luxury renovations in the residential market.

For years, Daniel worked on many projects, completing the work himself with some required assistance with plaster moldings and sometimes, the need for a contractor. The need for a contractor often put Daniel face-to-face with his passion’s biggest frustration: most wouldn’t return calls, and the ones who did rarely showed up to scheduled meetings.

When a quote was finally received, it was incredibly overpriced. With over 10 years of experience with subcontractors working with major players in the GTA and hands-on in the residential field, Daniel knew he could do better.

Daniel never had the intention to become a general contractor — instead, it was the lessons, the hard work from humble beginnings, and the need to provide more to people and their homes every day that served as DCOR Design + Build’s beginning.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Learning all the aspects of a business and working step by step after a long day working 9-5 is never easy. Teaching yourself what our school system doesn’t teach our youth and making errors, many times costly errors to figure out the correct outcome.

Setting money aside rather than going out with friends, investing in marketing that doesn’t return on leads.

It is very hard to stay motivated at times and push through the difficult thoughts in your head, but each new job and each new customer brings to light the passion back and keeps pushing you ahead!
