Today we’d like to introduce you to Dartez Wright.
Hi Dartez, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Robert Dartez Wright I’m from small place called Hecksgrove in Warren County.
It’s crazy how I got into this, I was a class clown and I was giving the teacher a lot of problems. So one day the teacher pulled me to the side and said, man you got a lot of potentials why don’t you use that energy and put it on stage I was like no.
So he went and got two of the best-looking girls in the school and got them to be in the school play, so what do I do? I joined the cast. From that day I fell in love with the stage, I fell in love with the energy, I fell in love with people. I fell in love with the Theater.
As fate would have it, after I graduated from North Carolina Central University the teacher that introduced me to the stage became my business partner, Garrett Davis with G Davis Productions & Films. We educate people on health disparities and giving resources to help caregivers and helping minorities understand why it’s important to participate in clinical trials. It’s a blessing that we get to travel all across the nation educating people and giving back to communities.
I want to say thank you to my Parents they are the reason why I am who I am today. Rest In Peace to my Father, My Hero, My Idol. A Big thank you to my Wife she’s been with me from the beginning. She’s seen the good, bad and the ugly. I’m so grateful for her, she’s everything I’m not but everything I need. And to my Daughter she’s my number 1 fan and makes me feel like Superman I pray to be as good of a Father to her as my Father was to me. Thank you to everyone who believes in me, that’s who I do it for the ones who believe in me. Shout out to Hassan Kingsberry and Philip Burgess they let me know that it was possible to make it from Warren County.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I won’t say that it was hard but I can’t say it’s been easy it has definitely been a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears put into this but that’s life, you have to work for what you want.
We can’t control what happens to us but we do control how we respond. Everything is perspective, I don’t focus on the negative, but I always try to learn from negative situations.
What I’ve learned on his journey is to never allow anybody to place their fears and their limitations on you. You have to believe it, you have to work for it, nothing comes easy but anything is possible, And that the ability to create is our most God like ability so why not use that gift to impact the world.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I created a nonprofit called The Wright Way Project in Honor of my father who just passed away recently from cancer.
The Wright Way Project is focusing on healthy families, partners with local nonprofit and other organizations to provide children and families with nutrition, health, and safety support needed to stabilize and overcome the trauma of poverty. My family also created Moot’s Mobile our mission is to give support, goodies, relaxing/ meditation music, cancer survival gear, scarfs, head wear, wigs, intimate apparel, Oils, lotions, tee-shirts, bags, masks and so much more to the Warriors who fight this battle daily. We look to provide an experience that will aid in the process of treatments and recovery. We also want to supply a shoulder for those that have lost loved ones in the fight.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
What would surprise people I’m naturally shy I’m a introvert. I sit back and observe a lot before I come out of my shell. I love to stay home and watch the food network and the history channel I’m a history buff I also like to do a lot of reading, studying and learning new things and I love spending time with my family. Family is everything to me.
