Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Douglas.
Hi Michelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My name is Michelle Douglas born and raised in Columbia, SC. In 2011, I decided to move to Charlotte, NC to attend Johnson & Wales University to pursue a passion for fashion design.
That passion will never be lost; along with being an abstract painter. Over the years, this burning desire for photography was screaming to come out. So I decided to take that leap and go for it.
Looking back at my childhood, I realized I’ve always had a passion for taking creative pictures and capturing moments. LouAllen Creations was created and founded in May 2021; in memory of my late father Allen Kirk Douglas who was also a photographer.
I wanted to make him proud, and start-up LouAllen Creations in his honor him. My dream is to follow in his footsteps on this journey and to capture unforgettable moments that will last forever. This is for you dad.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, there are always obstacles and struggles that anyone would face when starting their own business from scratch. I would have to say staying positive and having clarity on this journey has been a learning experience.
Especially when making the bare minimum with a 9 to 5 job, investing in myself and my business has been one of the hardest challenges I’ve encountered.
Also learning and educating myself more to perfect my craft. So I can get better over time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m more of a freelance photographer. I love all different types of photography, but I can say I’m more known for my nature photos. It brings me so much peace and happiness to capture Mother Nature at its finest.
When I go out to take pictures of nature I’m overly proud and surprised about the outcome, because the moments I would capture are so breathtaking and relaxing.
What sets me apart from others is… I can honestly say my range on paying close attention to every detail and having an artistic/ creative background since I was a little girl.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I would have to say staying up countless nights educating myself by watching YouTube videos; on how to set my settings on my camera and editing my photos after a session.
