Meet Sarah Granahan of Color My Spirit Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Granahan.

Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Sarah Granahan, and I am a Karuna Holy Fire® Reiki Master/Teacher (KRMT), Healing Touch Practitioner Apprentice (HTP-A), Certified Hypnotherapist (CHt) with International Associate of Counselors & Therapists, Integrative Health Coach trained at Duke Integrative Medicine, Intuitive Empath, Biomat Practitioner, Shaman, Medium, Animal & Child Energy Worker & Wellness Coach.

I created Color My Spirit, LLC in 2012 to help inspire motivation & self-healing for people by helping them explore the messages their bodies send them. In 2019, I Co-Founded Spirit’s Quest Center, then in 2020 grew my business and opened my practice, where I reside today – Color My Spirit Wellness in Raleigh, NC.  I treat people with sleep disturbances, anxiety, pain, grief, stress relief, fatigue, wound healing, and support sensitive people & empaths. I see adults in-person and via distance work and support children and animals via distance work (age depending). Some clients aren’t sure why they are feeling “off” and want to clear old energy to support their general well-being. This is sometimes referred to as Shadow Work. No matter the reason, my sessions enhance the energy fields and help to rebalance the chakras leaving you feeling more informed, renewed, and restored. My most sought-after session is “Messages & Energy Healing” since clients turn to me to help determine what is going on in their bodies on a deeper level. My intuitive and empathic skills help me with that. I am also a Certified Hypnotherapist and offer clinical and spiritual hypnosis experiences. As an Integrative Health Coach, I can work with you to develop a customized plan to help empower you to develop healthy behavior changes and see real results. We may explore energy work, messages, clinical or spiritual hypnosis, or all the above.

If you asked me years ago if I’d be doing what I do now, I would have said – No. Or what’s energy work and why do I need that? You see, I was directed down the path I walk because I needed to heal myself back in my 20s when I was being told there was nothing wrong with me and that the poor physical health that I was experiencing was all in my head. It was a very trying and frustrating time especially when you had spent months trying to get some answers and support. So really, my story is a testament that no matter where you start off in life – whether dire straights, tough upbringing, feeling lost and stuck, dealing with abuse, or poor health, etc., it is possible to co-create the life you would like to live by taking time to manifest and set goals for yourself. It’s possible to have a new, bright and shiny experience if you just put your mind to it. Realize that if you can pull yourself out of “victim mode” and see your life as a boat across the water instead of a houseboat, you can create what you want and do amazing things. I always tell my clients this since my life is a total example of that!

My life experience involves shadows and feeling lost, darkness vs. light, and how using hopes, wishes, and wants to set intentions has worked for me. And can work for others too. You see, I wasn’t born knowing what I wanted to do in life. I knew I liked to make people laugh, am creative, and that I like helping others. But my true calling to life was elusive to me way back before I got sick. I tried so hard to force myself to figure it all out, to force myself to just choose already – pick a life calling that fits! But when I used this approach, I was constantly met with challenges and obstacles. I almost felt like giving up many times and just settling for whatever job wanted me. But when I took a step back to see what was unfolding, I realized I was right where I needed to be. The turmoil, suffering, and constant roadblocks that I was being met with were so infuriating, don’t get me wrong. But would later end up helping to light my path toward realizing my life’s purpose and helping me reach my goals and so much more. And at the same time, I could get to know myself and the untapped gifts I had deep inside. Life is so beautiful – it really is. It just depends on what glasses you choose to look through. And if you know me, I always choose the ones with the rainbow lenses….

So my transformative journey with all this began back in the early 2000s – as I graduated from college and was searching for my true life purpose and calling. Today I realize that no University currently offers the type of training I would receive by healing myself back to health in 2006, so that was the path I needed to walk. As I entered the workforce in Chicago, IL, after graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago, I continued to feel that I hadn’t found the career that fit my calling. I loved the work experience I received in the creative and humanitarian fields because I was helping people. But I felt this urge to continue to try and manifest how I would get to show up to support people on a deeper level. Ironically, my life finally put me on my true path when I became very ill with no traditional diagnosis in sight.

I remember the day everything changed for me – I went from feeling great to one day watching all that drastically change before my eyes when I became sick for months and months on end. At first, I thought I had the flu, but the longer that all went on, I began to realize this was my new norm. At 25 years old, I should be living my best life – not living my most sick life. I was experiencing physical issues like pains in my joints, aches that would come and go in different places daily, weight loss, digestive upset, and symptoms that mimicked thyroid issues. When I would go in to be tested by traditional medicine, my blood work would always come back in the “normal range,” so I was told there was nothing they could do for me.

I was upset with the new life experience I was living. I had no energy to work my full-time job anymore and contemplated moving back in with my mother to rest and just exist. This made me feel so down since no one seemed to be able to help me. One doctor who couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me told me, “it must all be in my head.” I left his office in tears after searching and searching for some sort of relief. But I soon realized that his cruel comment put me into greater alignment with realizing that I needed harmony not only on the Physical Level but also on the Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual Levels to feel better. Realizing at that point that I was on my own to help myself, I put my anthropological training to work and researched alternative healing modalities to try and help support my body. And I found many people in the same boat – feeling sick without a diagnosis. Some said it had been years! So I thought, if I was living elsewhere in the world with no pharmaceuticals to help, how could I heal my body naturally? This mindset led me on a journey of exploring new suggestions and allowed me to turn inward, seeking my inner guidance. While doing so, I didn’t realize at the time, but I was training and unveiling my true calling and mission in life – helping others on their life’s journey the way I did.

I realized that often when it’s an energy-related issue, the dis-ease people feel will affect them on many levels and not fit into the traditional diagnostic protocols set forth for us to follow. I see this more and more. And hear stories like this from clients who have come to see me over the years. When I started following the guidance I was receiving along with the research I was doing and put it all into play, my body began to heal, and I began seeing improvement. It was at that moment, I decided that I wanted to show up to help support people in the same way – to support those needing a more holistic approach to their wellness, discovery, and healing.

Today, I own a healing practice in Raleigh, NC, called Color My Spirit Wellness. I work alongside many other talented practitioners, all passionate about helping support the community with our specialized training that looks at the WHOLE person.
