Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyeasia Dorsey.
Hi Tyeasia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am the youngest of 3 children. I am married with one child and a bonus mom to another. I have always strived to be greater than what some teachers and others stated I would become. My family has always been supportive and has always helped me to the best of their abilities. I graduated from East Carolina University with my bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation counseling.
I have two master’s degrees, one in conflict and peace studies and the other in addiction counseling. I have always had a passion for helping individuals with mental health and substance abuse concerns. I am now licensed as an addictions counselor and I specialize in addiction, trauma, anger management, and mental health. I am currently in school at Liberty University to obtain my doctoral degree. I currently offer driving while impaired services and individual counseling in Tarboro but will soon expand by end of the year to offer intense outpatient substance abuse groups and treatment.
I am also an author of three books that are available on amazon. I am the owner of two nonprofits Fierlous Girls Inc and Margarets Safe House Inc. Outside of the many jobs, I enjoy crafting and creating jewelry and designs in my free time with my business Fierce Creations.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No No No. I have had many bumps and bruises but I have never given up. In the beginning, I did not have many supporters in the town nor did I have a lot of clients but eventually the clients came and the true supporters showed up. Sometimes, however, it is ok to take a step away and figure things out so that you are able to come back stronger and greater than you ever were.
As you know, we’re big fans of Recovery Journey Services LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Recovery Journey Services LLC was founded and opened in 2019. I initially started doing driving while impaired assessments and treatment in Windsor NC, it later expanded to my now second location which is in Tarboro NC. I now provide an array of treatment services and counseling.
I believe I am the only black own individual counseling center in Tarboro NC, that is something major, and proud to be a part of starting a legacy for my daughter. I am proud of myself for not giving up, for me removing my fears, and for venturing out on my own to open a business such as this.
How do you define success?
Working hard, not giving up, falling, and dusting yourself back off. To be greater than you were yesterday
