Inspiring Conversations with Terrance Clay of No Mercy Hustlers Clothing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Clay.

Hi Terrance, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Well, I started this back in 2020 during quarantine. I was thinking about my life and the things I accomplished and dreams I wish I did lol and suddenly I got the idea of “Why not start an underground streetwear brand”. It’s honestly something I wanted to do 20 years ago when I was 19 but I was nowhere near as mature and ready as I am at 39 lol.

So I did my research and after some long tough conversations with my wife and myself, I took the leap of faith and haven’t looked back since. The Brand Name “No Mercy Hustlers” is something I’ve held onto for 2o years now. It was originally “No Mercy Entertainment”.

My friends and I had our own little music production company back in 2002-2003. It started off great BUT quickly failed due to many reasons. But the name “No Mercy” has always been near and dear to my heart. I wanted to keep that to show and to keep the memory of where It started and the band of brothers that it started with. The “Hustlers” aspect was a chance to shine light and change the narrative of what society already thinks about what a “Hustler” is. My view of a Hustler is someone who works 2 or 3 jobs.

Or have what we call a “Kitchen Salon/Barber Shop” or like myself have a full-time job and own an underground clothing brand that ran out of my house. In the beginning, it was rough cause I had no idea how to start. I tried drop shipping and printing sites like Teesprings, Kin Customs, and Pintiful but that failed miserably lol. Then I researched and rebranded after 2020 and bought a heat press and blank garments and went to work. After that, it’s been great business ever since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was VERY rough at 1st cause I had no idea what I was doing. I started with dropship printing companies like Teesprings, Kin Customs, and Printiful but quickly realized that the cost was way too high. So after I bought a heat press and blank garments and went to work. As of now I just have a website NoMercyHustlersClothing.com. in the beginning, it was very discouraging cause nobody was visiting or even searching the site.

But that all changed this past May when I had my 1st. Vendor event in my hometown of Pensacola FL. After that day. My online sales have boomed and I’ve been able to do more events like Summer JAM here in Greenville and Raleigh WRLD22 FESTIVAL. The social media aspect is still the roughest for me cause that is what seems to be a 24hr gig to market yourself and grab your target audience’s attention and stay relevant.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our Mission Statement: We at No Mercy Hustlers Clothing Celebrate the Go-Getters, the True Hustlers, The Ones that Make It Happen by Any Means. Proving there’s more than 1 way to Strive For Greatness. Keep Hustling and Show No Mercy!

We are an Underground Streetwear Brand that specializes in T-shirts, Hats, and Bottoms, for example, shorts and pants.

What sets us apart a lot are we try to stay authentic with who WE are as a brand and business. We don’t try to go with the style and designs everybody is doing but we create our own lane and stay true to who we are.

We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Great question lol!!!! I don’t define success by the amount of monetary gains but I do define it as being better than the person you were yesterday and knowing that the steps you took to get there were pure and of good energy and intentions.
