Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Moore.
Hi Chelsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Before the apparel line, Pretty Girls Love God started as a social meetup group. Raleigh would serve as my home base, and I would travel twice a month to Charlotte and Greensboro to plan activities and host events. Simply put, I was looking for like-minded women looking for their tribe. Our outings ranged from volunteering at local homeless shelters to spa dates. I’ve always been in awe of gorgeous women with substance, so when I saw the imbalance in the world, my goal was to promote inner and outer beauty. We tend to use our clothes and style to express ourselves, so when the season for the meetup came to an end, I thought, what better way to continue spreading this message than to put it on a t-shirt! My business has allowed me to cross paths with some of the most talented models and photographers, and I’m excited about the brand’s future.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
The road has not always been easy. The truth is that I don’t have a blueprint for what I am trying to build, so most of my journey has been trial and error. I still struggle in some areas, and I have blocks in creativity, but Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will PGLG. As long as I have faith and work hard, I know that even the challenges and struggles will work out for my good.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When I’m not working on Pretty Girls Love God, I work in the Human Resources Department as a recruiter and specialist in wellness. As you can see, everything I do is connected. Nothing goes unused. I apply what I learn in HR to find the right models and team for the brand. All in all, I am most proud of my perseverance. I’ve always been an ambitious girl for as long as I can remember. I knew I could do anything I put my mind to. I’ve never been scared to go against the grain, and I think this is what sets me apart from most. I want to lead with my life and inspire another girl to do the same.
The pandemic has taught me to expect the unexpected and never take anyone or anything for granted. I’ve always been good at setting goals at the start of each year and 2020 was no different. I’d used some of my resources to put together a spring pop-up shop, and the world had shut down just like that with no warning. It was a teaching moment because I had to learn how to pivot and use creative ways to bring in sales still. I used that time to get to know my customers personally because relationships and relatability are so important.
