Community Highlights: Meet Emily Marshall of Cactus Designs Screen Printing & Apparel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Marshall.

Hi Emily, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Chelsea and I first met through CrossFit and quickly learned that we share a passion for design, especially regarding apparel. Also, doing CrossFit six days per week means we sweat through A LOT of t-shirts, so it only made sense to combine our love for fitness and unique apparel and create Cactus Designs Screen Printing & Apparel. We set up Chelsea’s garage to be our print shop, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s our second home at this point! So far, we love every part of the screen printing process, from meeting new clients and helping make their creative artwork come to life to pressing the ink onto the shirts. We’re looking forward to printing our designs for fans and followers of Cactus Designs and delivering high-quality products for our clients around the Fuquay Varina area.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course, since we’re both new to screen printing and are learning along the way, we’ve had our fair share of challenges when it comes to burning, exposing, and lining up screens on the press, but we know that these minor obstacles will only help us become better screen printers in the long-run.

Can you talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes us happy is seeing our clients happy. There’s no better feeling than seeing the joy on their faces when they look at their gear or post about their new swag on social media. When we help make their designs or logos come to life in the apparel or merch we print for them, their excitement makes us excited to continue on this screen printing journey.
