Today we’d like to introduce you to Apache Knapp.
Hi Apache; it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Since the golden era began in 1988, I have been working on my skill of writing and freestyling lyrics. Around 1991 I started performing and recording in local talent shows and making demos to send to radios and record labels. By 1992/1993, I was performing all over the tri-state area and opening up for major acts like The Lost Boys and others. I always was eager to use my voice, even as a young child, and I knew I was meant for the life of a lead musician. I kept performing, recording, and rocking in the outdoor ciphers and block parties and events. By the time it was about 2000, I was making my beats and had a crew around me that also had many talents. Hip-hop was my culture and way of life, much more than a fad or a label someone could give me. I made a name for myself in Ny by the time it was 2001, and I kept going. I eventually moved to Charlotte in 2006, began working on Singing more and writing music, and worked with a guitar player, which we ultimately formed, and the band performed locally. I also enjoyed being a lead singer and learned a lot about being a musician besides being an emcee and producer. I am working super hard at getting a distribution deal and working on the 5th album I have created in 2 years. I put out over 18 to 20 plus albums altogether.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This is my purpose and outlet, but most importantly, my therapy, so I am always up for the challenge and eager to preserve my art form. The challenges I have encountered the most have been the different band members, especially the drummers. I have worked with many others, their differences, and the many people I have worked with in hip hop. Being in a crew was always hard because we were all equally passionate. I have grown a lot spiritually, so my content and the people I choose to keep around me currently have grown with it. I only want to collaborate with Ego – Free artists that have the same drive and leadership that I have
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Those with a microphone are responsible for moving people. But how we carry them is the most important; what I do most is Emcee. Wordplay and the art of being a lyricist and lyrical. I am a singer-songwriter as well. I am known for being loud and animated, lol. What separates me from others is I intend to spread my positive spirit amongst the masses. The vibration is of light and love, and it is necessary to influence in that way. I am proud of my daughter and my relationship with my higher power. But as far as myself musically, I am most proud of how far I have come with my lyrics and delivery and how much better I am becoming. I don’t like to get comfortable or stagnancy. I am also super proud of the collective I am in called certain. One is 30 emcees and producers from around the world.
What quality or characteristic is most important to your success?
Drive, work ethic, enthusiasm, and the ability to believe in me
