Meet Ryan Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Jones.

Hi Ryan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I love going to different countries, learning about different cultures, trying local cuisine, etc. I even enjoy sitting at a restaurant or bar near the gate with a glass of wine waiting for the flight.

My love for travel has led me to become an Independent Travel Agent, helping my customers enjoy traveling the way I do. Food blogging has led me to meet some wonderful people in Charlotte. One of the biggest and proud moments was working to create @EatBLKCLT to bring awareness to black-owned businesses in the Charlotte area.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Covid-19 put a halt on traveling and closed a lot of my favorite restaurants that I’ve featured on my blog. The travel and tourism business is extremely competitive. To retain customers, travel agencies are expected to build good service standards and improve them according to the standards of their competitors.

To resolve such issues, in this example, travel agencies should be well aware of the conditions of cabs, private cars, train compartments, and other similar computing spaces. It would help them offer memorable customer experiences throughout their travels. By understanding these challenges, you’d be able to learn how difficult it could be to run a travel agency or manage its operations. The biggest challenge that every travel agency must face is to maintain cash flow while managing all these operations.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
One thing that sets me apart from others, is that I have multiple hustles. I have a day job with multiple side businesses, so knowing how to code-switch is extremely important.

I can go from my 8-5 engineering job to turning up with the homies with ease. With engineering, food blogging, bartending, and a travel agency. I think I am relatable to a lot of people, as having side hustles is necessary these days. Search engines give a travel price, I give travel advice.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Employment of travel agents is projected to grow 20 percent from 2021 to 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations.
