Meet Anecia Lee of Haven of Rest Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anecia Lee.

Hi Anecia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My journey as a therapist started in 2007 when I was at a crossroads in my life. I was working for NC State Gov’t and really enjoyed what I did. However, I was not as fulfilled as I knew I could be. During a conversation with a dear friend and colleague, she asked me, “if you could do anything you wanted, what would you do?” Without hesitation, I said, “I just want to help people.” The strange thing, I was helping people, but I knew there was more. That conversation led me to apply to Liberty University for the Marriage and Family Therapy Counseling Program. In 2010, I graduated, passed my State Exam, and have been working as a therapist since that time. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS)

During this time, I have worked with an agency, US Military at Ft. Bragg, and currently am the Owner and CEO of Haven of Rest Counseling, PLLC.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am today has been both smooth and rocky. While in school for my Master, I worked full-time, as a full-time wife, and mother and was very involved in my church. Learning to balance life and school has been my greatest challenge. However, the reward that I am currently walking in has been worth the balance.

As a full-time, student, along with the other hats I wore, resulted in many “NO’s” to fun, family, and friends. Some people understood, but others just quit asking.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Haven of Rest Counseling, PLLC, is a minority (Native American) and female-owned business. I am a solo practitioner, located in Benson, NC. I am a faith-based counseling office that specializes in Relationships, Grief, and Trauma.

Although faith-based, I see clients who are not faith-based as well. My goal for every person who sits in my office, or comes into my space, whether in person, virtually, or telephonic, is to provide them a safe place to share what is on their heart. My mantra is “People don’t care what you know until they know that you care.” John Maxwell.

People know immediately upon entering my presence, that I care for them at a deep level. As I listen to my clients, I listen for the heart. The heart is where everything comes from, so if I hear their heart, I hear them.

I am most proud of the fact that I can listen from a deep place and give back to my clients what they say and don’t say.

As a counselor, my goal and heart are to connect with my clients on a heart level.

What’s next?
My plans for the future are to EXPAND MY TENT. By expanding my tent, I am offering more than just counseling. I am a certified coach who is also certifying coaches.

I am a counselor, coach, speaker, teacher, preacher, and consultant. My future will include expanding each one of those areas. I will be offering more groups and courses while increasing my preaching, teaching, and speaking opportunities.
