Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Rogers.
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
My name is Crystal Rogers, and I’m the Owner of Picture Studios. I majored in Art at East Carolina University and took courses on Advertising and Graphic Design. I love art, and I’m obsessed with food, whether cooking, trying out a new restaurant, or just scrolling through Pinterest to add every recipe imaginable. I worked in real estate for several years before moving to Greensboro with my husband and children. I grew up in a small town called Franklinton, where I was a Girl Scout and would do things like help out with plays and art projects at church. A few years ago, we went to a chain of portrait studios for holiday photos, and they turned out terrible! I still wanted to send Christmas cards that year, so I decided to take things into my own hands. I bought a camera and a few props and outfits and sent cards to my family that they loved! I remember sitting down with my husband to talk about how it would be nice to open a DIY space for creative people like me. After many months of research and exchanging ideas, Picture Studios was born.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’ve managed to make it around the bumps I’ve run into. When you start a business that friends or family may not understand, it’s hard to know if you’re doing things “right.” One thing we had in mind for our studio was that it would be easy to use, so we researched different types of equipment and chose the best pieces for our space. Now and then, a customer would come in asking for specific types of equipment, and I would find myself purchasing those things (because I wanted to make everyone completely happy). The kicker was that no one besides the first customer would use them consistently! I would advertise the new items and update my current clients, but nobody cared. It took me only a short time to realize that you can’t please everyone. You have to serve customers in a way that is still smart for your company, or it will hurt your pockets!
As you know, we’re big fans of Picture Studios. For our readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Picture Studios is a DIY photography studio rented hourly for content creation, interviews, and photoshoots. We are centrally located in Greensboro, North Carolina (near Four Seasons Mall), and we rent our studio space for as low as $30 per hour. We also provide makeup services on-site to help our clients save time and money. Our studio also has plenty of natural light and is equipped with backdrops, furniture, LEDs, and vanity stations in a professional office setting. We are known for having a clean space that is easy to use. You can come in before work or on a lunch break, have a photo shoot and be on your way – all you need to bring is a camera or an iPhone/Android and whatever prop(s) you like. What sets us apart from others is that we are strictly a DIY studio so you can come in with a pro, or you can do everything on your own and still leave with something good. I am most proud of our brand because we understand who we are and our niche. I also love that we can support creatives by hosting an event/show called Makeup Battle and publishing INSIDE Monthly (Magazine).
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me as far as my company is concerned is that all of my customers leave with something they are happy with, whether they created it on their own or brought in some help. It makes me feel great and lets me know I’m continuing to deliver what I promised.

The article on Crystal Rogers(my niece) was very enlightening and informative. For those who are not camera shy or really want to be creative with the their art of design, Picture Studios is the place to be.
