Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Howard.
Hi Kayla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing hair in high school. I still feel as though hair grew on me because I did it. After all, I thought that’s what my mom wanted me to do. Fast forward 12 years, and it’s truly my calling. I’m very hands-on, and I’m a visual learner. Hair school was a breeze. Being a young mother and finding my calling early was such a blessing. I had 9 other siblings outside of myself, and getting my hair done wasn’t a priority for my family. So I started to do my hair, which led to serving other family members and friends. The beauty industry changes every day, so I wanted to stay up-to-date on the latest trends. 2004 I graduated from cosmetology school and began my career as a stylist. Not knowing where life was headed, I stopped doing hair in 2008 and didn’t know I was giving up on my purpose. That brings me to 2012, when I birthed the idea of becoming a business owner. I thought of things I could do to make money, and I was tired of not being satisfied with other stylists that did my hair, so I decided to start making wigs and selling hair extensions. 2014 I launched my online business but was not satisfied because I wanted to be behind the chair. My cousin talked me into doing my hair again, and I took off. I worked from a small room in my home and quickly outgrew it, and I opened my very own hair boutique. I worked so hard to get my business the exposure that it needed. I’ve worked with so many clients and families with different hair needs.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, I searched for hair vendors. I didn’t know much about running or creating a business, so I faced tax obstacles, licensing issues, and city coding problems. I wasted thousands of dollars trying to find the right product. It was ridiculous. I never gave up; I kept going because I knew God would get me everything I needed.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a licensed cosmetologist with a hair boutique. I sell upscale products, top of the line quality hair extensions. I specialize in hair extensions, natural hair, and hair loss. I’m known for selling quality hair products and making my clients feel beautiful again. My professionalism, products, and customer service set me apart. I live and work for my clients. I’m proud that my brand started from a small thought and blossomed into this amazing business to help women feel great about themselves. I want people reading this to know that you can do anything you put prayer and your mind to. Hard work and dedication will take you places. I want women to know that feeling good doesn’t have to break the bank while doing it. I offer wigs, hair growth products, lace installation systems, etc.

My favorite childhood memory would have to be playing dress up with my cousins when they came for the weekend.
