Meet Sandy & Nora Jalal of Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy & Nora Jalal.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
It all started with a vision and a dream for these sisters, two young ethnic women who officially launched Yo Momma Stacks in July 2021. What began as a niche specialty in mini pancakes quickly expanded into a homemade dessert enterprise, including banana pudding, waffle sticks, honeybun cake, brownies, Tres Leches Cake, Cheesecake, and classics like cotton candy and milkshakes. Our menu will satisfy you no matter your sweet tooth and leave you yelling, “Yo, Momma.”

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Sandy: My biggest obstacle is running the food truck alone whenever my sister can’t come home some weekends; she makes the whole process easier and more enjoyable when she cracks jokes. Sometimes it’s rough wanting to expand when it’s only us two.

Nora: My biggest struggle is my Time Management skills, I am a full-time Student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and on weekends I come home to run the food truck with Sandy. Then I also have to include my personal life outside work and school. It’s been tough to manage, but I am slowly getting the hang of it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
On our off days, Nora and Sandy read and reply to emails. We like to be active on our social media accounts and see what our customers would like to see us improve on, as well as develop new ideas to thank our community for their support. We are sisters that run a dessert truck on weekends. We specialize in pancakes! When we started Yo Momma Stacks, we were only selling pancakes. Then we added more desserts, but our specialty will always be our pancakes. Our Dessert list is Pancakes, Waffles, Honeybun Cake, Cheesecake, Banana Pudding, Tres Leches Cake, Brownies, Brownie sundaes, Banana Split, and Milkshake. We are known for our unique pancakes! It’s not just about pancakes. It’s about creating a masterpiece. You can come to our dessert truck and order your pancakes wherever you want. Some people go wild with their orders, and some people stay simple. No matter what you order will always make whatever you create.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over time we hope to see our business expand to different cities and states; since we started this Women Owned, we want to continue this when we expand by allowing it to be Women Ran as well. We also want to continue growing with the current trends and adding to our menu.
