Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Anglin.
Hi Nicole, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Oregon and went to college at George Fox University, earning a BA in Spanish with a minor in Psychology. I graduated in 2006 and wanted to serve my community, which led to a 14-year career in social services. I worked with adults with Developmental and Intellectual disabilities, families through child welfare, and people living with HIV and AIDS through the local HIV Community housing program. I was trained to complete home inspections to HUD standards and mitigate issues between landlords and tenants while working in subsidized housing. I had always loved the local housing market and would study housing trends, attend open houses, and check local property listings multiple times a week for years. My Fiancé and I visited North Carolina in June of 2021, and we both fell in love with the state. North Carolina is my favorite state because of its friendly people, beautiful weather, sea turtles, and never-ending adventures. We relocated here in September 2021. Our realtor at the time of our move encouraged me to pursue Real Estate, and talked with me about how much she loved her career. I decided to take the plunge and became licensed in March of 2022. I started as an individual agent for roughly six months and then decided to join, A Cole Realty, because I heard about the firm’s amazing support and training. I am so excited to be able to help more people achieve their dreams of home ownership and wealth building through Real Estate. I was able to transfer many skills to my new career: including contract negotiations, conflict resolution, active listening, and assisting clients in discovering what is most important to them when purchasing a home. Each transaction is equally valuable, and each client deserves the highest level of 0customer service and attention. My main goal when working with clients is to empower them to make the best decision for themselves through providing education, advocacy, and resources. I am passionate about residential real estate and can’t wait to serve more clients in 2023. When I’m not involved in real estate, I love playing board games, snorkeling, hiking, traveling, modeling for local businesses, and enjoying all North Carolina has to offer.
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Learning to market myself has been the biggest challenge. I am used to being assigned clients in the social services world, which is different from how real estate works. For people to know I am available to assist them and that I am good at what I do, it is up to me to advertise my skills. I was very uncomfortable promoting myself this way for the first few months; however, it has become easier as I continue to receive positive feedback for my marketing efforts. The other big challenge I continue to face is receiving variable income. I was used to receiving a steady monthly paycheck from my boss; as a business owner, I get paid for my work. I am learning from self-employed people about the best way to manage the monetary ups and downs of working for myself.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am affiliated with A Cole Realty, an Independent Real Estate Company servicing the Triangle to the Coast of NC. We focus on residential real estate and have a proven track record of getting results quickly. We pride ourselves on having a direct line of communication with our clients and providing top-notch customer service.
We’d like to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Luck plays a small role in my success. I work daily to learn all I can, meet potential clients, network with other business owners, and provide my clients with the best service possible. That said, sometimes I’m in the right place at the right time. Putting myself out there frequently leads to more opportunities to get lucky. I feel fortunate whenever I talk with someone about real estate and share my passion for homeownership.
