Life & Work with Lluvia Phillips

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lluvia Phillips.

Hi Lluvia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Lluvia. I am a newborn, Maternity, and family photographer. I moved to North Carolina in 2020 due to military orders as my husband is on active duty military. We have moved multiple times in 4 years. When we first got to North Carolina, I knew I wanted to create and offer something new and unique; I wanted to give my clients the convince of staying home for their newborn portrait session as I understand that leaving your home with a new baby after giving birth can be stressful and sometimes even painful after giving birth. That is why I started offering this convenient service to our clients. During our sessions, clients can feel comfortable and stress-free, and I can capture significant photos in the comfort of their homes; I provide a wardrobe for moms and all props needed for their newborn session. Three years later, I have traveled all over Eastern North Carolina and plan to open our first studio. As a first-generation immigrant who came to this country at 14 years old and spoke no English, I feel blessed to have reached my goal and continue to grow; I wish to inspire other immigrants, women, and mothers.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a military spouse and a mom of three building a business and brand are not necessarily the easiest tasks; always having the risk of being moved to different states can be daunting; after putting a lot of effort into finding my space, clients, and building a brand for my business, the thought of leaving it all behind is scary; however, as a military spouse, I have learned to coexist and to be resilient no matter what the circumstance might be and try to focus on the positive which is that I can make a new meaningful connection and meet new people everywhere we go.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I want people to know that I am committed to offering them a one-of-a-kind photoshoot experience. I’ve worked so hard to make their photoshoot stress-free by putting together a beautiful Luxury wardrobe for moms and the little ones so that all you have to do is book your session and show up. I am currently working to open my first studio location, and I am so excited. I am planning to offer a one-stop portrait studio where I will have a make-up artist available for clients and will be able to order one-of-a-kind custom-made fine art products.

I believe a photo shoot should have the power to empower those in front of the camera and leave clients with a positive experience. I hope all this resonates with you and that you think of me for your next photoshoot.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t believe in “luck” I think that the results I have gotten are a direct response to hard work and something bigger than me or luck.
