Life & Work with Phaze Gawd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phaze Gawd.

Hi Phaze, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, my name is Tony P the Phaze Gawd; born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, I’m a hip-hop recording artist and event planner. I always had an interest in music and writing, but I got started doing music in middle school when I started recording myself and printing CDs to hand out to my friends. I think at that moment, I knew music was going to be my thing, and from there, I’ve been able to create and perform awesome music and meet dope people throughout the journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been less of a smooth road and more like a wild roller coaster. I’ve felt that incline as a new artist getting his feet wet in the scene and having all the excitement and anticipation to experiencing success and being considered a top artist and then on the flipside experiencing that decline and low moments of agonizing writer’s block, feeling inadequate amongst peers working with aspects industry that are of my control and feeling stuck. But even at the bottom of the coaster, it always goes back up again; Once you start seeing the patterns in the coaster you can prep and enjoy the ride way more.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a recording artist, music producer, and event planner specializing in live music events. I’m constantly performing, whether it’s at a headlining event or popping out at an open mic or two. I’m always looking to build up a better show. What sets me apart is my High energy shows and understanding of stage presence and crowd control creating a relatable environment for the audience. What I’m most proud of is the dope community that has formed around me and my place in it; I’ve met so many talented creatives in my career and been able to bring together people from different backgrounds and walks of life through my music is something I’m forever grateful for.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I like keeping surprises just that … a surprise. But I will say what you see is not always what you get, especially when we meet in person, so I always encourage people to tap in with me and chop it up.
