Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Daniel.
Hi Cody, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I grew up in a family that was and is always involved with music. My father a DJ in college and who then also started his own mobile DJ business doing weddings and corporate events, surrounded with me with all kinds of music from a very early age. I had every top 40 song from 1955 to today at my fingertips. I was obsessed.
My parents realizing that I had natural rhythm, I started taking drum lessons at age 5. Fast forward to Christmas when I was 16, I got my first acoustic guitar and locked myself in my room for months to figure out how to play it correctly.
I played in a handful of different bands in high school and college. Realizing that I didn’t want to compromise my creative and being frustrated with my band members lack of dedication and ambition, I decided to venture off and be a solo artist in 2013.
Since then, I’ve recorded and released 22 songs on 8 different projects. I’m getting ready to release 4 new singles in the remainder of 2023. I recorded all of them in Nashville, Tennessee.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a road filled with ups and downs. Highs and lows, but so many wonderful experiences.
It’s always difficult to get people to care about music that they haven’t heard before at first, and it can definitely be an uphill battle just trying to get their attention, especially in a world of social media filled with so much “noise.”
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a professional musician/DJ/Singer/Songwriter.
As of right now, I have been playing and gigging around North Carolina for the last 12 years in bars, venues, corporate events, and weddings.
My dream is that my music will one day garner enough attention and form an audience that will allow me to travel around the world and play shows to fans that love my original music.
I believe my music sets myself apart from other because it’s live instrumentation. In a digital world where anyone who has a laptop and a microphone can call themselves an “artist,” I’ve really dug my heels in and take pride in doing everything the old fashion way. While still bringing a modern feel to all of it.
What makes you happy?
No stage or audience will ever fulfill the love that I have for my family. I have a wife and one year old boy at home, and I strive everyday to make them proud. My music allows me to support them, while my wife helps me with my social medias and all tough decisions. She’s always been so supportive each and every step of the way of this musical journey and I truly couldn’t do any of this without her. We’re raising our next little legacy, while he bangs on his fisher price instruments! Music! Simply put. Music brings people together; it creates unity. I want to be that person that brings people together with my music. Whether it inspires someone, makes them happy, makes them sad, or makes them dance.
