Life & Work with Noah Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Jones.

Hi Noah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been involved with motorcycles in one way or another since I was born.

I started riding for fun, then progressed into racing until I was in my early 20s and working at the local Yamaha dealer. I went to a school in Orlando to get certified through Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki and continued working on motorcycles until 2010.

I had to change career paths and went to work for GE Aviation and then to where I am now working for Corning Incorporated as part of their maintenance team.

I continued riding with friends and always dreamed of having a motorcycle rental business, so people could have these awesome experiences.

I saved and tried to be smart with my money and got to the point where I was ready. I told my girlfriend one night that I was ready to make the dream come to life, and she said go for it.

She helped me think of the name (Smiles Per Hour-Moto Adventures), design the logo, and build the website www.sphmotoadv.com

We got lucky in finding the right person to be the Operations Manager while we work our normal jobs from 8 hrs. away.

We opened for business March 31st and have been steadily getting busier. We’ve had customers from Michigan, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. Recently we had the VP of marketing for Camelbak schedule with us.

All of this is still mind-blowing to me that it’s actually a running, operating business, and I’m very thankful for everyone that’s encouraged and helped along the way.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Getting insurance on motorcycle rentals is difficult! I reached out to numerous insurance companies, and they pretty much hung up on me.

I got a few ridiculous quotes and was pretty discouraged because that was the last thing I needed to make everything happen.

I called a few other rental companies, and they gave me good insight on who to use.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Like I mentioned earlier, my day job is doing maintenance for Corning Incorporated, where we make fiber optics for the world.

I’m responsible for keeping the high-tech machines running and producing fiber.

I’m most proud of my sons. They’re 5 and 8 years old and a lot of work but so much fun.

I’m stubborn on a different level, and that’s not always a good thing, but if I decide I’m doing something, there’s no stopping me. I’m intense and passionate about people and the things in my life.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My sons, my girlfriend, my family, my friends, and motorcycles.

I love being silly with the people that know me best and having fun with the people I love
