Exploring Life & Business with Khady Kamagate-Nguyen of Noire Luxe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khady Kamagate-Nguyen.  

Khady, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Khady, and I am the owner of Noire Luxe LLC. I am African, and I immigrated to the United States from the Ivory Coast. I am a part of the LGBTQ+ community, and my partner in this business and in life is Tiffany Nguyen. Together, we founded Noire Luxe LLC with the mission to help bring people together by providing a positive and unique experience. As we both identify as minority women, we inspire to reach out to other communities to plan events where we can celebrate inclusion and diversity. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We want to be able to continue to help our communities. As members of the LGBTQ+ community, we are able to provide our services to other members and have noticed that we have a lot of LGBTQ couples who book with us because they feel more comfortable. During one setup, we had a couple say they specifically booked with us because they felt safe. Our goal is to continue to provide our services to all communities in Charlotte, especially those who identify as minorities. Our biggest challenge would be advertising on a bigger scale so that we can reach a bigger audience. We want to be able to be more visible so that we can reach more and be able to provide our services to everyone. 

As you know, we’re big fans of Noire Luxe LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Noire Luxe LLC provides event planning needs for Charlotte and the surrounding areas. We started Noire Luxe Picnics from the concept of wanting to bring together families and friends through an outdoor event. With the advancement of technology, we see that people are less likely to spend time outdoors with their loved ones. Noire Luxe Picnics’ goal is to provide a service that helps people slow down, relax, enjoy nature, and spend time with those special to them. Our services include a full picnic set up that includes our custom-made tables, teepee, and card games so that our guests can have fun and enjoy each other’s presence. We also provide pre-drawn canvases, paint, and brushes for those who want to enjoy a picnic with painting. We currently provide intimate and family picnics that are indoors or outdoors. We also decorate hotel rooms, and our goal is to expand our business so that we can host bigger events and venues. 

Our goal is to continue to expand Noire Luxe LLC so that we can be more efficient. Our mission is to bring together families and friends by winding down and unplugging from their phones. We would also like to share our innovative way of business and want to encourage people to use more open spaces such as public parks and use that time to connect with their loved ones. We want to promote outdoor activities in this diverse Charlotte area so that there can be more cross-culture experiences. We aim to unite communities to better the great city of Charlotte. 

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
We were lucky enough to meet Nimish Bhatt, director of The Universal Institute for Successful Aging of Carolinas, also known as UISAC. Mr. Bhatt has been like a father to us, and through him, we were able to meet some members of city council and network with other minority businesses. We have partnered with his organization to provide an outdoor experience to senior citizens within the Charlotte community. Through his mentorship, we have been able to help so much more for our community.
