Meet Sara Campbell

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Sara Campbell. Sara was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented April Buchanan.

Sara, thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
I was a teacher and started my boutique part-time out of a small travel trailer. My husband and I would attend pop-up events on weekends. I really enjoyed the work and meeting lots of different people! I had not intended on leaving the teaching profession.

About a year ago, my life turned upside down. I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease and was told by my doctor I needed to go out on medical leave. I took a leave from teaching, with a plan to rest and get back to it! That was not God’s plan. The doctor said I could return when ready but would need to sit down and rest during the day. I laughed and explained I taught middle school. That was not possible. I had no idea what I was going to do.

One evening, while walking to dinner in downtown Apex, we saw a FOR RENT sign. My husband, being my biggest fan, encouraged me to look into it. We discussed all the possibilities and decided to take a leap of faith. We opened our brick-and-mortar store at the end of January 2023.

To say it was a whirlwind is putting it mildly. I still can’t believe I went from a small pop-up to a full-time retail store. I love our boutique and have met some amazing people/customers who have become friends.

Please tell us more about your brand, The Tulip Magnolia
We are a size-inclusive women’s boutique. We carry sizes XS-3XL, along with shoes, jewelry, home decor, and gifts. We even have a small “Man Cave” section. We offer free coffee daily and we bring in sweet treats from local bakeries on Saturdays. We also try and support local companies. Many of our lines in jewelry and decor are from local artists. I think what sets us apart is our “at home” atmosphere. We want everyone to feel welcome in our boutique. Whether you are an XS or a 3XL, all our clothing is grouped together. My goal is for every woman to know they are beautiful! The clothing is just the icing on the cake! I am most proud of the relationships we have built with our customers. When we have customers return again and again, bringing friends/family with them, that makes my heart happy. That lets me know we are doing something right!

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by The Perky Lady and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with The Perky Lady.
Let me start by saying how much I love April and her staff. They make you feel so comfortable and at ease while shopping in The Perky Lady.

When I first went to April, I had a lot of needs. I needed a bra that was comfortable for someone with nerve pain, but, I also wanted it to be pretty and supportive as well. April listened to my needs and issues with materials against my skin. She brought out a few bras for me to try on and all had a perfect fit. I could not believe how well they fit my body! I did not have to spend hours going through racks of bras and finding nothing that fit properly. I was SO happy.

Having my information in her system, April was able to fit me with different bras when they arrived in the shop as well. She makes suggestions, knowing what will and will not work for MY body! I even have a beautiful bralette that has support. I never thought I would be able to find that! The Perky Lady is not like any other. I send all my customers to her!
