Conversations with Heather Kinsey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Kinsey.

Hi Heather, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Heather Kinsey, the creator, and photographer for Heather Kinsey Photography! I am a busy mom of five with a fiery passion for coffee, seasonal decorating and crafting, and, last but not least- photography. While I am passionate and dedicated to an array of things, the most important thing to me is family. I am in love with capturing the beautiful and messy moments of my family and our lives. This is one of the reasons why I created HK Photography- I want to enable other people and families to make their memories last a lifetime. Though I am a busy mom, wife, and woman, I put an extraordinary amount of dedication and professionalism into everything I do- especially photography. Nothing makes me happier than being able to make someone’s dreams come true, no matter how small or large. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not quite the smoothest journey; our youngest son has an autoimmune disease, so obviously, the pandemic forced my business into a complete collapse; shortly after the beginning of the pandemic, we lost my daughter-in-law to a car accident; she was most definitely my favorite model and my biggest fan from the beginning of HK Photography, my creativity and passion for photography started to fizzle out. With the stress of losing Kenzie and the fear of exposing Jaxon to something that could potentially kill him, I had no interest in picking my camera back up, however in late 2022, a few of my models reached out wanting to re-create a shoot that we did Halloween of 2020. As reluctant as I was to pick my camera back up, I did it, and it was absolutely amazing, and with that, Heather Kinsey Photography was back in business… 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Photography is my passion. I do a variety of photography packages, but I specialize in outdoor boudoir. I would have to say my business is most known for our Halloween shoots and couples’ photography. I am definitely proud of the business that I have created, being a very busy mom. The one thing that I believe sets me apart from other photographers is that I do not over-edit. I love allowing people to embrace their inner beauty in an all-natural setting. 

What does success mean to you?
Success is loving your job so much that you never work a day in your life.
