Meet Angela Cooper of Advance Learning for Tots

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Cooper.

Angela Cooper

Angela, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Yes, I am an educator, I’ve taught kindergarten for the past four years, and I felt like something was missing. Rewind back to the Covid year; God have me the name “Advance Learning for Tots” I didn’t quite know what to do with it… so I left it alone for a while; then in summer of 2022, I thought about hosting a summer camp. I wanted it to be different and something that no one else was offering… I realized that Pre-K is play based – but kindergarten is like college! There is such a HUGE opportunity gap between the two- so I came up with a Phonics camp!!

Omg, it was a Hit! My parents LOVED IT & hosting it felt like heaven on earth. From there, it took off. I was able to follow my summer camp students during the school year by offering tutoring. I extended tutoring to pre-K students to help them prepare for kindergarten, kindergarten students, and first graders. I was able to support parents by giving them tips to help at home, explain the content of what students were learning, etc.

This summer, I hosted ANOTHER phonics camp & it was even bigger! We had so much fun; kids who haven’t even been to kindergarten yet- left knowing how to read words! It was amazing…

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can honestly say- Advance Learning for Tots, INC has been a smooth road. I have so much support from my community… The community has helped me feed my summer camp kids; I’ve had a place to host the camp… It’s been a great experience. My biggest challenge is not being able to provide this service full-time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
My business is called Advance Learning for Tots INC. I use research-based strategies to teach young scholars to read. I specialize in the early ages (4-6). I enjoy teaching phonemic awareness and phonics. I am known for my creative teaching styles! I produce amazing results when it comes to teaching students to be confident and become amazing readers. What sets me apart from others is that there has never been a phonics camp in my area. No one knows how I run it! I am most proud of myself for following my dreams of helping as many children as I can. I want readers to know that it’s never too early to put your child in a program that will help them become an amazing reader and leader in school. I provide affordable services because I know parents DESERVE a financial break. I offer yearly summer phonics camps and tutoring for grades Pre-K through 1st. Be on the lookout for Advance Learning for Tots Academy!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Teaching makes me happy! I’m able to pour into others what I’ve learned.
