Meet Kelsee Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsee Moore.

Kelsee Moore

Hi Kelsee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! I am Kelsee Moore, a strength and conditioning coach for Air Force Special Warfare, owner/creator of Moore & Company, US Army Reserve officer, and military spouse. I grew up in the Central Valley of California and ran track and field competitively, which brought me to Liberty University in Virginia. I attended my undergrad there while running NCAA DI track and field but quickly joined Army ROTC. I earned a full-ride scholarship through ROTC and signed a contract to commission into the US Army after graduating.

My sights were set on attending the US Army Baylor Physical Therapy program but was not accepted. I decided to commission into the US Army Reserves while my husband commissioned Active Duty. I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Exercise Science and was afforded unique practicums and internships that set me up well to be a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I followed my Active-Duty husband around from Virginia to Georgia, to Kansas, to North Carolina- and obtaining new Strength and Conditioning positions along the way.

I’ve coached at Liberty University, Kansas State University, the 10th Air Support Operations Squadron, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and now my current position with the 14th Air Support Operations Squadron on Pope Army Airfield.

My small business on the side, Moore & Company, provides remote workout memberships for women who previously had a poor relationship with exercise and nutrition. I use holistic techniques, God-centered discussions, and my experience as a professional strength and conditioning coach to guide my conversations to improve health, fertility, and vitality in my clients.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a military spouse poses difficulties when trying to build a steady, professional career; however, moving to many locations has afforded me incredible positions that, in the long run, boost my resume and show flexibility and resilience. Juggling an Active Duty spouse, my military career, my civilian career, and Moore & Company can be difficult and time-consuming, but in funny ways, they all overlap. I’ve leaned into having more compassion and patience with the airmen at work because I’ve seen similar struggles from my husband. I personally know from my own service what military members go through with unpredictable schedules. Working for the Air Force as a Government Contractor gives me the freedom to step into people’s lives in a holistic sense rather than just in the weight room. Moore & Company works with the dependents of service members, who also need guidance in other unique ways when it comes to exercise and nutrition. I understand and work with the whole family!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
For my professional career, I am a Strength and Conditioning coach for the 14th Air Support Operations Squadron, which is comprised of Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) and Support personnel. I work on a Human Performance Optimization (HPO) team, which includes two coaches, three Physical Therapists, and a Social Worker. We work together to provide the airmen and their families holistic services- for their mind, body, and spirituality.

I personally work in our training center every day, as well as writing individualized training programs for guys who want a specific plan or are preparing to go to a school or selection. I am known for understanding athletes (and my clients through Moore & Company) in more ways outside of objective health or performance metrics. I take into account their goals and aspirations, but I also dive deep into their motivations, hang-ups, and distractions that either help or hinder their success. I’ve learned over the years that I can’t just give out programs and expect people to complete them if I don’t tackle subjective aspect as well.

I am most proud of taking teams or groups of athletes that previously had poor experiences with strength coaches and influencing their perspective for the better. I love being an example of a coach who listens, adjusts, and motivates- well-rounded, firm but also kind.

What were you like growing up?
I am a daughter of schoolteachers, with my dad being a high school football coach. I grew up around athletics and quickly fell in love with being competitive, intense, and dedicated. I’ve always loved moving my body and challenging myself- which I still do today! I am a Type 1 on the Enneagram- motivated by my moral compass but sometimes lacking compassion. My relationship with Jesus has been my biggest influence on my coaching career, continually improving the way I love others and offer compassion.
