Meet James Jones Jr. of Legacy Builder

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Jones Jr.

James Jones Jr

Hi James, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I believe in the power & voice of people! One day, I was having a casual conversation with my father-in-law, and he suggested that I try real estate. I had no background information on the housing industry, let alone real estate; however, I decided to take him up. Currently teaching at a local middle school, the only beneficial time was during the summer. Having a premature little one that was less than a year old, I made a commitment to my family that if I explored it during the summer, I would give it my all. I traveled back and forth to Greenville, NC, 4 times a week, 10 hours a day, including commute time and countless hours of studying, to pass! I started at a local company that gave me an opportunity and chance, transitioning to Keller Williams and now being a broker-owner of Legacy Builder, LLC. At the conception of getting the groove of real estate, I had the desire to have my own that I can be proud of and my family could one day hopefully inherit! I am grateful to serve my community, helping families create a Legacy and continue to build a legacy through real estate, whether buying, selling, or investing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were many obstacles that I faced at the onset. One of the major ones was my age. I had a pretty strong rapport with my community through various volunteer opportunities; however, I was young. Purchasing a home is the biggest purchase most will ever make, and I was only 26 years of age. It was a challenge; however, I was determined to give it all I had to be genuine, authentic, and communicative.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
I often get the question: do you build homes? My answer is not yet; I help families build a legacy through real estate in whatever way that looks. One of my greatest attributes that makes me stand out is being personable. I am always under the concept of do unto others as you do unto yourself or treat others the way you want to be treated. As mentioned, the greatest purchase for an individual is homeownership, and I know the questions I had as a first-time home buyer, seller, and investor, so I want to ensure that I give what I expect to receive. What makes me most proud of my brand is that I am able to help people. I have the heart to see people succeed in whatever form or fashion that may look. If I have an etch to be a part of their history, it makes my heart smile!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My wife was my greatest cheerleader and supporter. Being a wife, a mother, and also a teacher, she celebrates my endeavor to dive into real estate. Of course, that came with huge sacrifices. I was able to have space to travel, study, and build a legacy for our family. Every step of the way, she’s been nothing but encouraging.
