Meet Melissa Honer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Honer.

Hi Melissa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory. 
After working in the event and planning space over the last several years, I had the confidence in my skills and recognized my true passion for the industry to take the leap of faith and start Vowed Events. I was able to leverage my experience working with different planners into creating my own unique brand and coordination style. I am extremely proud of the work I am able to do for my couples in helping make their dreams come true! 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Though wedding planning can be incredibly rewarding, like any journey, you are faced with challenges and learning curves, especially when venturing out to start your own business. 

When first starting off, one of the challenges I faced was working to find the right vendors that represent the same values as me and my brand in terms of consistency, communicativeness, and reliability. With the experience I have, I know what I am looking for and what my expectations are for my couples. This is such an important part of ensuring a smooth operating and beautiful day for them! 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the owner and principal planner of Vowed Events, a wedding planning and design studio based in the Carolinas. My experience in planning and events over the last ten years has landed me where I am today. This journey has been a dream come true for me as I get to work with so many amazing couples and help to make their dreams into a reality! 

I can recall sketching wedding dresses in all of my notebooks and trying on my mom’s wedding shoes, too often to admit. I love hearing those stories from my couples and helping them envision their big day coming to life. 

The dedication and commitment that I have to my couples to make the planning process a cherished, and memorable experience preparing for the next chapter of their life is what makes me the most proud. I offer a selection of packages that range from full-service planning to wedding day management to offer couples the services that complement their needs best! 

Weddings are a once-in-a-lifetime event where you get to celebrate your love with the people you cherish the most. I want to make sure each couple’s day is filled with laughter, happy tears, and memories that will last well beyond the day they say, “I do!” 

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
The Covid-19 crisis forced so many industries to adapt and evolve in systems and processes. The wedding industry was no different. While it was definitely challenging to navigate at first, it taught me a lot about how to be flexible and channel my creativity.
