Today we’d like to introduce you to Lianna Nieves.
Hi Lianna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Lianna Nieves, I’m 23 years old and have lived in Greensboro, NC since 2006. When I graduated high school in 2018, I always knew I had a passion for the beauty industry. I initially thought I would attend school for cosmetology and become a makeup artist, but reality soon alerted me of my lack of motivation to learn to do hair.
Despite this, my love for makeup was ever present and transferred over into aesthetics. I became eager to learn how to take care of my own skin and was always trying new products and techniques to increase my skincare. I decided to do some research into what an Esthetician was.
In early 2019, I signed up for the Esthetics program at a local beauty school, and my passion for skincare and waxing superseded my love for makeup. I was fascinated with product knowledge, formula ingredients, and instant results from waxing. By October 2019, I had graduated and received my Esthetician license in the state of NC. Later in November, I officially started my first franchise waxing position.
This job allowed me to gain experience in the industry and prepared me for my own entrepreneurial journey. In July of 2020, I officially opened Lunas Spa Lounge.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
By no means has it been an easy process. I funded my business with money I saved prior to the pandemic and took a leap of faith to open my business when North Carolina lifted their COVID restrictions in 2020. It was a lot hard work, research, and putting myself out there to market my business and find my target audience. During that time, I learned to be a great service provider as well as a great business owner. It has been very rewarding to overcome these obstacles and see my vision for Lunas Spa Lounge come to life!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lunas Spa Lounge is a full-body waxing lounge for all women and men, but my specialty is Brazilian Waxing. I like to address any skin concerns/issues at your appointment to create the best-customized treatment plan for you. My goal is to make sure every client leaves feeling comfortable, hair-free, and educated on how to maintain their waxes and achieve the best results. I am most proud of how I’ve redefined the waxing industry by providing quality waxes and meaningful relationships with my clients.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be of my late father making me a lemonade stand back in the summer of 2009 to keep me occupied and make money! It was very successful, and neighbors stopped by to support on their way in/out the development. It goes to show that even at the young age of 9 I was destined to be running a business of my own.
